Spyderco factory production?

We need one of these to protect against trolls in here:

((This is not W&C ))

I wish the guy would stop complaining about my favorite knife company. I've had maybe fifty of them. I've used their customer service once, and that was just to center a blade on a new knife. No charge; quick turn-around. There is NO better knife company, in MY opinion.

My experience with their customer service was very similar to yours. What's not to love about them as a company?

I agree with sunny, who cares!! they are an excellent company with amazing products & i have never needed customer support. Granted i could have but i prefer to mod the knife for fun when it comes to that point haha

IF anything this is a good thing while upgrading people start to get hyped because of lack of production & it may mean newer and cool products. if they closed up shop for a years to upgrade n remodel id still be a spydie fan, Heck id be the first to place an order when they open up for buisness

I know most of us on BF that have been here less than a month with a whopping SEVEN posts would have the guts to ask the question you asked.

The words arrogant and ignorant to mind. Time to get more informed about 1 of the Best knife companies that have been in busisness for a least 35 years.

Somebody at Spyderco told me they were remodeling and expanding a production facility. Hopefully it won't take much longer.

I've never had any trouble find the Spyderco I wanted...more or less when I wanted it. I attribute the occasional wait to the re-seller's re-order quotient or whatever...not Spyderco. I don't know about you but I don't buy my knives from Spyderco...I get them from here or there, on the web and in a brick and mortar from time to time.

As far as the PM2...well it's just about the perfect knife by a lot of admittedly subjective criteria: tip-up carry, "super steel", fantastic lock, very EDC-friendly size, and right aroung the $100 mark at most on-line sellers.

You send money and wait 5 years for a Randall...so it could be a lot worse.

PK, I stand corrected. You didn't answer the question, are they or not upgrading their factory? It not, their current most desirable knife models, "if you can find one" their prices will balloon to the max. Think Native 5 G-10 or Paramilitary2. I've got no argument with you gold member PK.

Red Devil, everyone has their own opinion, I respect yours as well. Define "extremely and painfully rude."
BTW, I have no "chip on my shoulder." Spyderco makes great products bar none, despite C/O, Japanese, Taiwanese, China and of course USA.
Nevertheless, their most popular USA MADE, knives have been on back order for months.
I suggest you chill your biting comments and think about this Memorial Weekend and honor our US Soldiers who've given their lives to preserve our democracy and FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

They are indeed, I'm pretty sure Sal has said it on these forums a couple times in reply to threads with similar topics to this one, he also mentioned when I was talking with him at the Eugene, Oregon knife show about a month ago, a customer mentioned it was better that they couldn't produce fast to meet demand than the other way around, but Sal said it can be just as bad for business, because not only do customers become upset, but dealers who can't get the product they want do as well and may stop ordering, so Golden factory was working hard on pushing production as much as possible while keeping quality high, but also they were expanding the factory square footage/adding machines.

I think one of the reasons, PM2 scarcity problem has lasted as long as it has is because of the demand, it gets more publicity for being an excellent knife= higher demand, it because sold out several places= higher demand, secondary market prices rise= higher demand. My guess is production is at least as high as it had been, but the scarcity made people who had it on their list of "to buy knives" buy it right away, people who were on the fence about it, wanted one, and people who didn't want one, or already had one or more, bought more because of the higher secondary market prices to make money off of the high demand.

Ya Mr. "Red Devil" chill your biting comments and remember that memorial day cannot be observed unless I can buy a pm2 or native 5 NOW!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Spyderco has never really turned my crank and for that reason I have no Spydies in my small collection as I concentrate on Kershaw and Buck. But I bought (ordered) my first Spyderco today - Spyderco Military Model G-10 with Camo/Black Blade.

Having read so many glowing reports, and few negative ones, I thought I should give Spyderco a first hand shot to see what I really think myself. So, we'll see, but I'm looking forward to the knife. If I like it, I'm sure that I'll add a few more. An awful lot of people like them and that rarely happens by accident.

I'm actually kinda stoked to find out that they are a smallish family owned and run business. That is cool. :)

Oh well, michaelcm466. I've seen PM2's for over $250+ dollars. Talk about specific ebay sellers being super greedy. If you can afford Spyderco "speculators," hell go for it.
I don't know Sal nor much about his factory, Michael, but it appears with a small staff of knife artisans, along with CNC cut parts along and perhaps laser grinding, not by hand....Sal has replicated and duplicated knives so you can take model apart and it'll fit in another one w/o any problems?
If you recall, this high tolerance machining was a big selling point for Glock 9's and Sig Sauers.
Simply my opinion.
Hell, I'm having more problems dealing with gophers tearing up my, formerly, beautiful lawn.
Later, bladster

So far I have found that Google is my friend when looking for a particular model knife, even if it is a recently discontinued model or a limited production one. Not always I admit but so far my success rate is about 90%. Used it for both Spyderco and Benchmade knives.

I'm sorry you don't know how to find knives for decent prices. That must suck. Blaming the company seems kinda crazy though. That's like wanting a sports car and only being able to find it in automatic, then blaming the car company for not making more in manual.
