Spyderco factory production?

The last I heard, the Golden plant was up to 68 people, including the Glessers, sales force, clerical staff, support staff and the people actually producing the knives. At the Factory Outlet sale last November, the line waiting to get in reached halfway around the factory. It really isn't a very big place. Brick buildings are not the easiest type of construction to expand, and I doubt it gets any easier when that building is high in the mountains near the mouth of a canyon. For those who have not noticed, it wasn't a very mild winter, and it wasn't an early spring.

I'd like to hear from blade forum members regarding Spyderco knife production. Their most two popular knives, Paramilitary2 and Native 5 G-10 have been backordered for months. According to one Spyderco vendor, they said the company was in the midst being upgraded and remodeled to handle the public demand. Last I heard, it is a family company with ONLY 38 employees.
My point? Spyderco has BECOME TOO BIG FOR ITS BRITCHES? May I suggest Sal and Gail Gasser, get with the program?
Anyone care to answer?

a damned odd post for a new member. Damned odd. Almost seems AGENDA DRIVEN. :D

They have added a second shift to manufacturing to help with the back orders situation.

(This was posted on their Facebook page and their various forums too.)

My only comment to you is that you seem to have some sort of chip on your shoulder, are extremely and painfully rude, and have what I would call entitlement issues. All this aside from being grossly misinformed.
I wish this would get moved to Whine & Cheese so people could tell you how they really feel about your post.

I love BladeForums. I am still learning how to be nice.
+1 to all three post above.

I've read this thread three times. I can't discern any useful point or question in the original post. There is no production company that comes anywhere near Spyderco for responsiveness to customer desires. Yeah, they could make more Paramilitary 2s and other popular knives appear - it would be easy, and much more profitable - just stop making the sprints and other specialty/limited production steel knives, for example. :thumbdn:

I for one would not change a thing if my name was on the sign . If you don't like it buy something else . My 3 favorite folders have a hole . If you buy one somewhere else that leaves one more for me.

I would wager that Mr. Sal wants supply to catch up to demand even more than we want it to.

I think more production capacity is in order, but they already have that under way. Expand too fast, or to much, and you can kill the business entirely. Trust Sal.
