Spyderco Fakes & Knock Offs Info

Hello ladies and gents! I’m back once again asking to borrow your expertise😂😂
I bought an endura 4 from the same place as the para 3 but I’ve come to find out that enduras are faked often. My main concerns are the locking mechanism in the back. It kind of sticks up near the blade a bit and was kind of wondering about the writing for the blade steel. Is that how enduras should look?
Anyone with any experience with an endura 4, I would greatly appreciate your input

Enclosed is also a picture of the frn, the logo on the handle, the screws that were used, and the actual lock button. My two main concerns are the locking bar in that last position not being flush with the back of the blade, the actual lock “button/release” and the engravings on the blade. Again, any help would be very appreciated!!

the blade spine below the jimping right at the lock bar interface has a bunch of tiny specles of imperfection (micro dots micro holes micro pits) yes?
👀🧐🤔

=> 💣💥😵💀

🥺

btw how do you sharpen your knives, Sharpmaker or benchstone? looks like this Endura unit has come with a tiny recurve at the heel, right at the ricasso. not a big deal (one can fix it to perfection) but really not welcome on a brand new blade. If you use Sharpmaker only, then no problem, you'll miss these 2-3mm and develop a larger recurve over time. The recurve will be sharp, just not looking noice 's all.

Here is a better photo of just that are. It does look to have some micro holes or tiny little pits. Do you think that’s a sign of a forgery?
As far as sharpening, I haven’t even gotten to that part yet. I’ve just hopped into this world of knives, and haven’t quite made it that far in yet!

No, because my unit has them too. The interface on mine is flush, though. Your unit isn't as flawless as mine but yours is still original, 99.9% probability.
Thanks for the photos, they're well made!
knivesandtools dot de has high resolution stock photos for your comparison.

Awesome! That back piece has laid a bit flatter with me just playing with the knife. Fidgeting as I’ve seen people call it😂😂 Thank you again for your help!!

'How often' can only be answered by 'how reliable' your source is.

Buy new only from official retailers / from trustworthy sellers to minimise angst.
Have you ever seen a case where externally everything looks good but on the inside there is some non OEM parts or some other bs? It's highly unlikely with knives, right? Unless it's some 600$+, or even then?

Personally everything (Spyderco) I've bought (either from retailers or seller's on here) has looked legit except for one instance - it was a para 3 and appeared to have bespoke fittings (torx screws and the tube they fit into).

This did turn out to be an issue because when I fitted a set of Aramis scales the screws couldn't go tight enough to hold the back spacer in, so it rattled irritatingly. I had to strip the knife down and put a few dots of blutac in to create the necessary tension.

I will be clear here this was not the fault of the scales (I have five sets of Aramis scales and they're all flawless) but the weird 'custom' screws and fittings. Additionally, the detent bearing on this knife has seized up and caused a flat spot, I've no idea if this is linked to said 'interesting' hardware, but is a big coincidence...

Honestly, if I can source things brand new I will do so as a result, what you think you save in terms of costs can come back to bite you with unnecessary angst and other costs later on. I've no idea if Spyderco will even offer to sell me a new liner - I hope they do.

I just picked up a Sage5 and it has the Sal Glesser logo/initials on the back of the blade, is this new or do I need to be concerned?
Manufacturing date code is GU so July 2021.

Nothing to worry about. They've been adding Sal's mark to his designs as a rolling change.

Hi Guys!
A buddy of mine has a couple of Spyderco knives, and is worried about one of them...
It's got about a 3.25" blade, a liner lock, and has 8cr13miov steel.
The thing that scares him; is that it has "China" stamped on the clip side of the blade
Real... or fake?

EDIT: found it: the Tenacious...
