Spyderco for Girlfriend

Nevermind, I saw the thread title and thought it was a trade offer. Carry on!

I don't remember seeing this earlier! Made my day :D that wasn't intentional, and I didn't realize how the title sounded until I read your post. It would have to be a really good model ;)

Blade for your gf? What ever spyderco you want next. So you can inherit it if she decides she doesn't want to carry. Otherwise sage series FTW!

I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this

So I've finally been able to talk my girlfriend into getting a knife, and I'm trying to decide on a Spyderco model for her. She told me she doesn't want a small keychain knife like a ladybug or manbug. She told me she liked the size of the delica blade, and wants something similar.
So the requirements are:
•2-3 inch blade
•Ambidextrous clip(she's a lefty)
•Easy to deploy
•Colorful handle

Feel free to recommend anything else you think would work well for her first knife! Thanks everyone :D

Get her the Delica in blue. Then, if she likes knives, you can get her a more expensive one later. But, I think she will like that one. My wife likes the Dragonfly (but it does not come in blue).

Delica or Dragonfly tattoo would be my recommendations.

Alternatively, the Kershaw Leek is one of my wife's favorites and it comes in a variety of colors. Mini-grip comes in blue and the axis lock is very lefty friendly.

Spoil her. Get her a Southard. It is small, and light enough to carry in a purse easily, but with a very useable blade length, and shape. Yes, I know the blade is a bit longer, but that's what I would do.

My wife is not into knives but she respects my passion for them. She wanted a small knife so I got her a ladybug. But when she needs to cut something she always grabs the UKPK or the Squeak. The squeak's in the baby's room and there's always a UKPK in the living/TV room. If your girl wants a locking blade it's a Delica for sure. A cf Chaparral is also a good candidate. See how a cheaper model goes before dropping real cash. My two pennies.

Wow Shreddedfingers has the best advice by far.

Something to consider, since this is for a left-handed person. You will need to make sure that the knife is available for a left-handed version, or has a lock that operates the same for either hand (ball lock, lock-back). The liner-lock models can put the clip on the other side, but it is still a right-handed liner-lock.

Thanks! I didn't even think to look at the Sage series! Do they still make the Sage 3 in blue? Blue is her favorite color, so that would be perfect. I wish they had a darker blue though.

I believe it is discontinued...but Spydie G10 is great.

Here's NIB Sage 2 titanium, SAGE 3 carbon fiber and SAGE 3 blue G10. Love these things.

My wife carries a blue kopa in her purse and loves it. A dragonfly would also be a good option.

Update: My girlfriend cut herself closing my Delica, and she said she doesn't want a knife with the same locking mechanism. She has no problem using my Compression locks though. She wants a knife about the size of a Dragonfly or Delica, but with a compression lock. So I guess my only option would be the Salsa, a Salsa sprint(if it ends up happening), a lil Temperance, or a Lil Temp 2 if they're ever released. Other suggestions are welcome, of course :)

Well, they are not blue, but you might try the Spyderco Cat or the Chicago. I love my Cat. These are not expensive and not Chinese junk.

There are plenty of small blue knives from other makers.
