Spyderco Gayle Bradley

I've had mine for over two years and use it constantly. I keep it on one of my workbenches. It's all tarnished and stained. I wish it were dlc coated but otherwise it's pretty much perfect.

The GB is one of my favorite knives too, and the fit and finish is pretty well perfect.

If mine doesn't come today, I'm going to have a stroke. Yes, seriously.

Edit: Of course mine got sent to the wrong post office so I said screw it and drove there to pick it up. I wasn't going to wait another day, and I'm definitely not disappointed. This thing is amazing from a f/f standpoint. There's such a satisfying "thuck" sound when the blade locks. Can't wait to put my edge on it and really use it. It has some heft compared to a PM2, but in a good way...just feels so solid and screams quality.

I noticed my box doesn't have a "born" date. It does have skeletonized liners, but I assume the new ones have born dates? Any way to tell from the code on the box about when it was made? Not crucial, just something I'm curious about and it's a fun thing to know when your knife was born :)

You'll find a 2 letter code on the sticker.
The left letter is the month and the right letter is the year.
A=1, B=2, C=3, etc

I know that about the code, I'm sorry I should've made clearer in my post. Mine is lacking the code such as BN which would equal Feb 2014. Didn't know if there was another way maybe from the numbers over the barcode or something?

Ah.
If I get ambitious enough I'll unbox all of my Spyderco packaging and find my Bradley box to see if there's a date code on it. I seriously need a better system with these boxes. It's like a needle in a haystack shuffling through them all.

You mean you're not anal like the rest of us that alphabetize our boxes by brand and model stacked neatly on a shelf inside our safes? :)

I did a google image search and came across two different boxes that had codes of Jan 2010 and March 2013. I'm sure these little things happen all the time though on different runs.

I have the boxes....I swear I do. I just have no idea where they are.....

I ran out of room a long time ago in my safe and bought Spyderpacs. Ran out of room in those so bought more Spyderpacs. The empty boxes were like tribbles, everywhere. I sort of solved the mess by bagging them all but finding them requires emptying the bag, one box at a time. :(

Does anyone have any friendly advice for getting the knife apart? I'm thinking about doing a patina but can only get as far as getting all the screws out and half of the clip side scale pried off.

Nice choice with the Sam smith India ale officers match !!! To the OP I wouldn't let being lefty discourage you from the knife... I'm righty and have no problem opening and closing right handed knives with my left hand... Just play with it for a while and you will figure it out.

I also love my GB. It is a bit heavy for my EDC use, but it is my go-to outdoor knife. One thing that I changed on my GB was the clip - the standard one sits way too high in my pocket. STR made me a new Titanium lo-rider and it works fabulously..

I ordered the GB last night. The Taichung knives are great and I'm waiting on this one with anticipation. It seems some have problems closing the blade. I'm left handed and so far all of the liner and frame locks just took some "getting used to."

I'm a lefty. The GB is stiff at first but It's easy to use one handed.

Had some downtime today and off and on for a couple hours whittled a hickory limb down to almost a nub with the GB. Was trying out my 15 dps at 0.5u CBN edge and it cut like a dream. No hot spots on the hands and edge was still wave cutting phone book paper afterwards with no hints of any rolls. Color me impressed. Spyderco M4 is some good stuff.

I just got mine yesterday thanks to a very generous member here d.r.h. (thanks again Dennis)!

I already swapped out the clips for a deep-carry and modded it for easier spyder hole/lock bar access.

I just got my GB today and have to agree with those who have a tough time with that lock bar. I can do it one handed but if I keep playing macho man for sure it's just a matter of time before the "big hurt." I'll do the two handed sissy close on this one...thank you.

C_K, super job on that relief of the scale to get that extra access to the lock bar. Me being left handed I don't know if that would assist me in the "one hand close," but I really like it. Didn't know you could get a CRK in cf.

My Bradley along with my Southard have the best f and f of any of my Spydercos. I really like the ergos of the Bradley , but mine rusts very quickly when used for outdoors work. Maybe it s the humidity and salt air. I feel a bit more comfortable with stainless blades.

Try putting your thumb flat on top of the liner and then just moving over rather than trying to stick your thumb in there to push the lock over. Hope that makes sense.
