Spyderco General Chat Thread

I'm not sure if this is going to fly or not with the mod(s) or if it will get any good use, but I wanted to offer up a general chat thread for Spyderco enthusiast or Visitors to just hang out. Many other subs have a chat section stickied so I thought this sub might benefit from it as well. I'm in this sub a lot and I want to venture into every "new" or "trending" thread but sometimes those threads are on topics where I can't contribute (like I can't talk about a milli because I don't have one) or its outside my knowledge base (various exotic steels or mechanics). I just feel weird offering up nonsense or inexperience, or just plain off topic BS.

And sometimes I just want to make a quick announcement or say hello, but I don't want to start a new thread just to do that. Anyway.......Spyderco sub rules still apply of course.

I'll start:

Just want to let everyone know I will be getting my 20th wedding anniversary Double Bevel in the mail tomorrow.

See? Seems pointless to start a whole new thread with this announcement.:D

I wish Spyderco would bring back the gen 3 pocket clip on the Delica and Endura. I like it a lot better than the 4th gen just as far as looks. I had a 4th gen Endura in 2006 and it was a good knife and the clip did its job but i found it quite fugly.

Edit: I'm pretty sure it was a gen 4. The handle and pocket clip are drastically different from my old Endura with the molded in pocket clip with the patent info wrote on the clip.

I approve this thread.

Now I have a place to post my excitement on good mail days. :D

I didn't get to the ending...
I went to the crossroads... to get my new Spyderco in the mail.
Then my baby left me and now I'm broke and in jail. :p. SpyderBite Blues.

Just play it backwards and its about Satan worship lol. :p

Too cliché. This one played backwards is about arachnaphobia and that day you were late for work and left the house with no knives and feel naked in public without them. Horrible, horrible nightmarish scenes.

Such is why i keep a knife or two in the car

Just picked up the new Urban, very impressive! Just wish the wire clips could be supplied in black.

I'm so knife nutty that when I workout/run I'm constantly thinking about why I don't have a knife on me.

Actually, I think about that same thing when I'm in the shower. :D

I carry my DF 2 SE Salt when I run. Light enough it doesn't bounce around, and H1 is perfect for sweaty shorts.

Finally figured out what an "apex" is, and how to get a great edge with the Sharpmaker, quite the revelation!

And, my new Schempp Bowie folder will be here tomorrow......and, the Chokwe is still Spydercos best knife!

Also, my DF Salt survived its trip through the washer AND two cycles of the dryer, green RIT dye job didn't suffer one bit.

It really is! First time I discovered just how sharp a blade can get when apexed properly. Simultaneously, I learned just how uneven factory bevels can be. I've re-profiled most of my user knives, and it's actually somewhat irritating to realize that one side's bevel is much higher than the other. But hey. At least they're sharp. :D

Or, what I've found on more than one instance is the entire blade is ground a hair off center relative to the spine. It really complicates a reprofile using my guided sharpeners, the bevel on one side being significantly higher.
