Spyderco General Chat Thread

Yeah, I'm still looking at options. Was thinking of tackling it with my drill press and slowly with a stepped bit... but have to figure out clamping situation.

I've done a lot of dremel and rotary tool work myself (have hand ported and polished many cylinder heads and intakes), but through that experience I've learned how hard it can be to make a good circle with that method. No matter how careful or how good the stencil marks... most others wouldn't notice, but if I messed up a small amount it may bother me.

Same way here. I generally don't modify my own stuff just for that reason alone.

That's not good to hear... my preorder for one just shipped today.
Is it ripping where the clip attaches, or where?

Eh, well. It's not ALL the PPT's fault. It's the hem of the pocket that's tearing up. The G10 is catching on the fold of the hem and pulling. But this particular pair had already a few stitches popped. The initial tension on the PPT clip is very strong, though. I jiggled it a bit before using to try and loosen the tension.

:o Gonna have another go at getting a good edge on my Gayle Bradley today, wish me luck.

:D My new Schempp Bowie folder will be here in a few hours!

Anyone interested in the salt knives might want to check out Sals casual bombshell thread on the Spyderco forum. Sal announced yesterday that he was designing two new salt knives with lc200n steel.

Girlfriend forgot her Dragonfly H1 at home today…
In my pocket it went and left my Techno in its place. :D

Interesting for sure but I'm really excited for the new burnt orange HAP40 Endura.
It's going to be a fun year with all of these releases.

For sure. I can't say right off hand which I looking forward to the most. I'll probably know after they are sold out.;)

That usn ladybug hawkbill plain edge has been calling my name for the last month. It's about to get bought. Must resist urges.

Bought some RIT dye impulsively like a week ago while grocery shopping... been just staring at the bottles in my kitchen but haven't done anything about it, haha.

I did up my DF Salt a couple of weeks ago, EZ as pie. Hot hot RIT mix, drop the knife in and soak as long as you like, rinse and dry.

Looks fabulous, very dark shiny green.

Was clipped to my pants pocket yesterday, went through a long washer cycle and the dryer....looks EdZachary the same.

Received the new Schempp Bowie today, usual perfect Taichung fit and finish... already voided my warranty as this sucka needed to come apart to soften up some edges....the liners are sharper than the blade, and it easily tops arm hairs.

Remember that wonderful sensation you felt when you flipped open the Chokwe for the first time? The Schempp Bowie is just like that, buttery smooth and super easy.

Got a Tenacious about 2 months ago and fell in love. Already saving up for a PM2 but whats your guys opinion on the black blade... Is it only cosmetic? Worth the extra $$?

EdZachary the same, rofl

Did you use Liquid or powder RIT? I got liquid.
Did you also add any salt or vinegar?

Welcome to the forum!
Stepping into a deep deep hole going from the Tenacious to the PM2! Haha, there's no way out from there. :p

I just love the all black hardware with the DLC models. If no glare is important to your carry, then it may be worth the upcost... otherwise it's all aesthetics and personal preference.

I used liquid, heated in the microwave...be aware though, it boils faster than the same amount of plain water does.

No salt no vinegar. Maybe an hour or two, reheated the RIT dye a few times.

All this talk of RIT dying is taking me back to my disc-dying days. The crossover between this forum and DGCR is a little silly sometimes. Whooda thunk disc golf and cutlery pair so often?

Thanks for the answer Speedholes. I think I'm gonna go with black on black if I can find one in stock.
