INTENDED USE: general purpose, EDC, not too small, not too big.
I've been pouring over the offerings from Spyderco for days... and
I've been considering these models with plain edge:

Tenacious
Cat
Delica
Endura (possibly too big? I'm not really sure)
Centafonte
Native
Sage Titanium (pricey, but I like the frame lock)
Manix (perhaps too big? I'm not really sure)

I'm including some low budget models, but it isn't necessary for me
to keep the price that low. Cost isn't as important to me as having
a knife I really, really like!

I guess I'm leaning toward the Delica, Centafonte, Native, or Sage.

I'm sure I will wind up having more than one of these ultimately,
but I'm really having a tough time with the starting point.

What would be your TWO strongest recommendations among these?

MANY thanks, in advance, for your help on this!

I just got a sage 2 and i couldn't be happier. i was carrying a delica prior to it and it was fantastic.

well i have a paramilitary and love it, :D
the sage series is also worth looking into i have heard nothing but good from both the sage 1 and 2.

I would take a look at either a G10 Endura or Delica for EDC. Also, you can't go wrong with Paramilitary.

Hi ZDHART. Not sure how much you want to spend. I just picked up a Spyderco Persistence ,a downsized version of the Tenacious. They are around $30 and are also very solid ,sharp and lock up great. This size is nice for EDC. Here is a photo of the Persistence..Its hard to beat for the price.

how about the bob lum chinese?

they arent hard to find on the secondary market in like new condition.

the para is good too.

The Sage II is a little "light duty" for my tastes. It would do fine for EDC, but its more of a gentleman's folder in my book.

The Endura and Delica rock. Tenacious too. See nutnfancy's reviews of these knives on youtube.

I vote for the Delica 4 (I prefer serrated) or the Tenacious. Or Paramilitary (serrated); or Endura G10. :) I have them all, play with and use them all, and still can't decide which is my fave. The thing is, my "favorite" changes about every 48 hours. That makes it pretty hopeless for someone who can't have them all at once to examine. Basically, you have to close your eyes and pick one. You'll like it, whatever it is you end up with.

Like the Martian said, "opinions are like cornholes; everyone has 13 of them."

Sage II or a para would be great. If you're on a budget the Manix 2 is an exceptional knife.

I say get a centofante 3, damn classy knife with the quality of a hundred dollar knife but it only costs $45 bucks. Endura is a bit large in my opinion, but the cento3 is just sexy, fantastic slicer and very lightweight.

The Manix 2 is big and heavy, just to let you know. You get a 3" cutting surface in a lot bigger frame. Great SOLID HEAVY DUTY knife though. Some may say it's a little much for EDC

As for the Tenacious I must say it is hands down the best blade I've ever seen for $30! Mine was incredibly sharp out of the box, lockup, fit and finish are way beyond my expectations for the price.

Endura may be a little big as it's a bigger blade, almost 4".

Based on what you've said I'd look at the Native, Sage, Delica or Para not in any particular order.

+1 on the Endura but you might want to wait for the FFG FRN version, coming out later this year, and get the color you want. In the mean time, I vote Tenacious. Tough as nails for EDC, FFG, G-10, Quad-clip placement, strong liner, and in that price range there won't be any worry to use or lose it.

The Sage II is a little "light duty" for my tastes. It would do fine for EDC, but its more of a gentleman's folder in my book.

Interesting... I wouldn't have guessed that it's lighter built than the others. Is it because it's titanium with no liner?

Is the Sage 1 as lightly built as the Sage 2 or does the liner beef it up better?

The Endura and Delica rock. Tenacious too. See nutnfancy's reviews of these knives on youtube.

I vote for the Delica 4 (I prefer serrated) or the Tenacious.

Man, the TENACIOUS reaaally looks like a great knife in so many ways... I can see how the low price might make some people think it isn't so great by the price, but if it's as nice as some say it is, what a true home run of a knife! Great blade design, great knife features, G-10, skeletonized liners, great size. Awesome price. I really think I'm just going to have to order one of these no matter what else I decide on.

I so understand! There really can be no "one" favorite. That's why we must have sooo many!

Some good ones on your list...you'll probably have many of those once you get your first Spyderco....But one not your list I highly recommend is the Para.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Out of the Spydies on your list. The TWO I would recommend would be....

a CPM-S30V FRN Native
or
a ZDP-189 FRN Endura

As you may be able to tell, I am a steel junkie. I really like these two steels and model designs. The Native has a wonderful grip and feel to it when holding or using. The Endura is just a little bigger/tougher. I also like FRN. Very strong, durable, and grippy.
