A week ago I sent my Military back to Spyderco for repair. The lock was failing very easily, resulting in some bloody fingers. It is one of my favorite folders to carry. This morning UPS dropped a brand new one to my front door, with a rock solid lock, and a note thanking me for my trouble.

That is excellent customer service, and to me that is the benchmark of a company. Rock on Spyderco. The Military will ride in my pocket from now on.

Spyderco CS is great. Last year I sent in a well beaten Goddard ltwt. whose lock was failing. It was determined that the lock failed due to a manufacturing defect, and they let me choose a replacement in a similar price range (Goddard is discontinued), and even gave me the option of getting two smaller knives, or adding cash for a more expensive model. Incredible.

I had to send in a Meerkat. They CALLED ME AT HOME to ask exactly what I wanted and to let me know that it was being handled and they were sorry I would have to be without my blade. It's like they understand! I carry a Spyderco Viele now as my EDC. Top rate service, good price, and some of the best designs and materials available.
Long Live Spyderco!

I came up with an old Spyderco Police in a trade last year. It was junked out. An EMT had carried it for years and used it for everything, including a prybar. The clip was broken off and the (fully serrated) blade had met up with a bench grinder. The grinder won, by the way.

After I got tired of looking at the darned thing sitting in my drawer, I sent it to Spyderco along with a money order to cover return shipping as instructed via email. A few weeks went by and I called 'em up to see if there was going to be any additional charges. My plans didn't include dumping a bunch of money on a knife I could simply buy new for around eighty five bucks.

I was informed that Police models are currently backordered and I wouldn't be getting my BRAND NEW KNIFE for a couple of weeks. Brand new knife? What? Yep. Spyderco is sending me a brand new Police at no charge (except my original money order for return shipping). The guy mentioned something about a defective lock, but in fact that was the one thing on the knife that wasn't damaged. LOL!

That is stellar customer service, folks. The very least I can do in return for this awesome treatment is to buy Spydies from here on out.

And that's the plan! :D

Whenever someone tells me a Spydie is "expensive" I scoff at them. I have used their customer service at least a half-dozen times with the most unbelieveably fantastic luck. My stories mirror the above ones so I won't bore you with the details. Cost me maybe $10 for each service and they ship back to Alaska 2nd day air which cost them at least $27 per shipping! Here are some examples:
-Jot Sing Kahlasa (sp): Some blade play-replaced
-Spyderco Endura X 2. Was used pretty good but no problems: replaced one and reserrated the other
-Spyderco Military with very minor blade play-fixed better than new
-Gunting with a failed lock: fixed better than new

It may seem that they have problems with their knives but they don't. I just have a lot of spydies and utilize their customer service since it is so hassel free. The only real problem was the Gunting and that was fixed. The others are just because I am so anal about my knives.

Once they sent this friend of my kids a new knife. His dad gave him his extremely worn Endura. The kid didn't have a decent knife. They called me and told me they were replacing it. Pretty neat.

THIS IS WHY I GO BACK TO SPYDERCO!

The new Spydie Police is here! They also returned my original money order. Talk about customer service. Folks, its Spyderco from here on out in this household. I simply cannot believe how sharp this thing is!
