Was wondering if the ffg blades on the lw and g10 are interchangable.

The knives aren't out yet, so I'm not sure anyone knows. I assume you're asking because of the S110V?

They are out:D

This is my only Manix though, so I cannot comment on interchangeability. I like it just the way it is. Unbelievably light.

Ah, I thought they were out on the 16th. My bad. :D

Retailers got an initial shipment of a half dozen or so. They sold out quick.

A second shipment is supposed to be in the 16th or 17th. But how many? It's hard to say.

I'm interested in the blade swap. So much so that I have two coming. I may have to be the one who tries it first.

Im not a big fan of the frn manix 2 but it does ride in a edc role so nice but im still worried to put it in my harder use role but to be honest im loving the ffg ground s30v might be a mute point for me , im not sure if i can even sharpen 110v

Anyone try it yet?

Some might think you would be a good guinea pig:D This is my first and only Manix, and I love how lightweight it is, so I won't be trying it. Don't know if I would if I had a G10 version anyway.

I still don't have one in my hands yet but from further research, if this is put together like the other LWT Manix - it seems the blade is held in by a pivot bushing. So taking the screw out doesn't release the blade. You'd have to drill or mill out the rivets and take the whole thing apart to get the blade out. And then figure out a way to put it back together.

Seems like more work than I'm willing to do right now.
This was copied from another thread.

Well if you looked at the LW version as simply a S110V donor, then $100 for a donor blade in that steel doesn't seem too bad. Honestly, if you did it and put the S30V blade in the FRN handle, how much carry would it get anyway. I think S110V goes with FRN well, much like I consider XHP and M4 to go with G10 and liners.

If the blade swap work it would bring one of my older hollow ground Manix2 into "Limited Edition" territory.

Still trying to find a s110 frn or a cheap lw frn manix with the screw pivot.
I definitely want to take on this project and satisfy all of our curiosities. Anyone know of a cheap lw manix or a 125 or under s110 ?

A picture of why you can't remove the pivot (and blade) without drilling out the rivets. If I can get replacement rivets or bolts of some sort so I can put the S30V blade in the lightweight handle I will give it a go. Until then it will remain uncharted territory for me.

Im sure I could figure it out. Money is tight at the moment so I'll be a few weeks before I can get one and figure it out. Damn you medical bills

I just got around to milling out one of the rivets, until flat with the washer, then punching it out.Afterwards,I was able to spread the FRN handle scales enough that the blade, pivot, washers, and pivot arms just fell out.Note - All without damage to the scales.

Cool, the dilemma you face now is that you have to remove the other pins to re-assemble with another blade, as fitting the pivot & figure 8 liners needs specific lineup with the flat sections....

:)

Did the pivots you ordered fit?
