Spyderco Manix rust resistance...

Probably all of the reasons mentioned.

Don't know Charpy. Couldn't get a response from the foundry and our charpy isn't operating yet.

I would think that it gets work hardened during the process of putting on the serrations. Which I guess are done after the blade has been hardned. So the very process of making the serrations work hardens the steel further to a harder Rc number apparently. That would be the only way I see it happening. I guess after the edge portion of the blade cools down or is cooled down it brings the number up a few points.

Could be tricky to sharpen H1 using motorized wheels if this is the case. May end up with some very brittle edges after repeated sharpening on the plain edge knives if it is that easy to work harden the edge further.

How do you keep the high carbon cores from rusting?

Sides prevent core from rusting and core itseld is stainless. It may be some corrosion on the edge itself but because of use and sharpening it is not such a big issue. But you have very good cuting abilities.

I really like to hear from first hand this story of H1 serration being hardened during applieing serration.

What if you make this serration flat - and have plain edge with 68+HRC?

Thanks, Vassili.
