Spyderco military.... I think im in love.

I love that the Military is tip-down. It's so natural for me to draw, open, use, close, and repocket. Perfection. I like the Para 1 and 2 tip-down too. Knives like the Endura and Delica (Pacific and Salt 1) I think are fine tip-up though.

Does anybody carry a knife like the Manix2, PM2 or Military just loose in the pocket? Going to look at a Military this weekend during a trip Sevierville.
I occasionally carry my Manix2 LW loose in my pocket. Can't imagine trying to do that regularly with the larger PM2 and even larger Millie.

As the clip clears the lip of the pocket, with a slight turn of the wrist the Military lays perfectly in the palm with the thumb directly over the Spydie hole.

Tip up requires adjustment of the knife in your grip. There is no other way to open the knife without sliding it in your hand.

Blade in the seam is just rhetoric. I've never had a knife open in my pocket in over 30 years.

Agree. Knives like the military, because of their size, pose a problem for me tip up. When I draw the knife my hand is too far from the hole, I can not just draw and open it. If it had a flipper that would be a different story.

I did.
Spyderco P'kal.
As I was getting off the bus, I noticed a "itchy scratchy" feeling on my left leg....
When I reached into the left pocket, the P'kal was fully open.

Of course, the P'kal doesn't have the strongest detent in the world.

I love the Military just the way it is. Tip down, liner lock, size. There, I've said it and I'm not changing my mind.

I love the Military. Best work knife for gloved hands I own. The PM2 is a close second.

Absolutely.

Tip up, tip down is potato, potahto to me. Some say tip up is for safety, but I had a tip up knife open on me and slice through my pocket and scratch my hip. Carry how you like and realize you have a sharp edge on your person. Also, I will never buy a knife meant for pockets from a certain manufacturer again. I almost exclusively buy Spyderco, with a Benchmade or two sprinkled in.

Tip down can also open, my worse accident ever (not on a Spyderco: A CRKT Apache).... But the most dangerous thing is dual thumb studs that get worked on by the pocket fabric...: Partial opening with the blade poking clear through the fabric... This is one thing where the Spyderhole scores... Spyderhole plus lockback: No trouble ever for me, tip up or down...

Nice, I've had the Millie epiphany back in 2007. 13 Militaries later I still think this is the best production folder. Ever.

I realize know that I will need to buy a other Millie. One to beat the heck out of and one to sleep with at night. Not sexually but... Well maybe.

I have my eye on a spyderco paramilitary 2 digital camo scales and black blade new in box for 80 dollars, still reading everything I can on them to make sure it's not a fake.

Be carful, that sounds way too cheap. I only buy from authorized dealers, way too many fakes out there.

...wut? Tip-up puts the knife in your palm on pull and keeps the blade snugged against the seam of the pocket so it can't open accidentally.
^This. Those with a more mature understanding of the Millie recognize just how wise a tip down orientation is in this model. Give the standard Millie an honest try and you'll never take it out of your pocket again.

I remember when the Military was Spyderco's "new" knife offering. It's been my off and on go-to daily carry ever since.

But why? You've made this claim twice, but not explained it.
Not trying to start a holy war, just genuinely curious on different ways of carrying. :P

Such a great knife! Pick one up in a cruwear blade and you will be even more in love

I don't think in 30+ years has the Millie ever been tip up. Best option I've heard directly from the factory is tap your own holes for tip up carry. But yeah I wish it came with a four position carry option for lefties and those of us who carry multiple folders for EDC.
I got the titanium Millie and other than dropping as I exited the factory, chipping the tip and denting in titanium from the asphalt, I am also in love with my Millie. I would have walked right back in and asked if I could replace it since I hadn't even had it 30 seconds, but I am gonna USE this knife and I restore blades as a hobby so no biggie.
