Spyderco Military standoffs?

If those work then so will the standoffs from usaknifemaker. They are the same size except for the external diameter. Since the patterned ones work and have a larger diameter, the plain ones will certainly work as well.

I'll probably go with these usaknife ones since they will match the factory blade stop better:

The black backspacers are solid aluminum I believe. I've replaced them with standoffs I've gotten from knifekits after I've ground them down to the right width. Also upgraded the body screws from T6 to T9.

Since we're looking to upgrade our militaries here in this thread, does anyone have a link to these upgraded T9 screws? I've always thought the stock T6 looks weird on such a large handle.

I ordered 8 of these standoffs for both my Millies. I got extra in case someone here wanted some!

Why didn't you do this two months ago when I changed mine! I love the open look of the Millie without the backspacer. Did you have centering issues before this? And are you over on the ESEE forums as well?

I just placed the order yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to put them on yet! Yes, I'm on the ESEE forums, I see you over there too!

I can usually fix blade centering issues on folders...

These are the black ones I used for the M390:

They say T-9, but my Wiha T-8 driver is what fits best.

Gooeytek, thanks for the link to the screws. This is such an easy mod, and the look is way better!

Got the standoffs in today and it took about 3 minutes to put them on. Didn't even have to take the knife apart!

I don't know why I bought 8 of these, I only needed 4! lol Here they are with the factory backspacer I took out.

The blade stayed centered after installation...

I think these give the knife a much cleaner look to it!

I think those look better than the ones I got from knife kits. Jealous! Either way, tons better than the backspacer.

Why does Spyderco use a backspacer and not standoffs? Design or is there a purpose?
Thanks

If you use the knife hard for a long time the backspacer is more comfortable. I normally carry a fixed blade when in the mountains or forests which is where I would use a knife hard for longer stretches of time.
In normal use it isn't an issue.

I was looking at the ones I did a while back, and those plain ones that you used from usaknifemaker look great. They match the stop pin & lanyard hole better than the spool ones from knifekits.

They are a hair smaller than the stop pin, but you have to look really close. I measured the diameter with my digital calipers and I think they're about .05" smaller. Not much. I was kinda looking for a bigger diameter standoff, but these will do!
