Spyderco Native-Questions

i own all the native series, from the vary 1st version to now, they stopped making the swedge bladed version some time ago!and most newer native 5 come with only a little swedge on top of the blade,i think the G-10 with steel liners would be a more robust back-lock and the CPM S35 VN is over all a grate steel, holds up vary well with use.

Native5 is my favorite knife. I started to carry it shortly after they came out. S35Vn is a good steel. I was lucky to but 2013 Forum Native, when Spyderco produced them and this knife almost never leaving my pocket. It is certainly my most used knife. Currently I have 9 various Native5, mostly carry 3 of them. Strongly prefer N5 with liners. Ti Fluted actually doesn't have liner, but it is getting carried fairly often.
In addition to Native5 I own Native (big swedge), Native4 (polished CF scales, FFG VG10 blade) and 2009 Forum knife. I used to own N2, blue G10 Native and Native with blue inlay. And IMHO Native5 is the cream of the crop. You can go with any variant and will be fine.
S110v is the better steel but they are both good steels
I wouldn't call S110V a better steel than S35Vn. it is much more abrasive resistant, so it will hold the edge much longer, but your certainly need to be equipped to reprofile.
I have WE and still it takes time. Touching up on sharpmaker is not a problem, just few minutes even after fairly heavy use, but reprofiling takes time. Usually I am watching movie while I am doing this.

I love all three of mine:

Nice!!

Well, my new G10 Native arrived yesterday. I must say the fit and finish are amazing! This knife is everything I had hoped it would be. It is very smooth to open and the lock engages with an authoritative clack! When closing, the blade falls freely when you depress the lock. I have smaller hands and it feels great. I will be EDC'ing it today. If anyone is on the fence about getting one of these, I would say just do it. You won't regret having one of these in your pocket.

Absolutely love the 40th anniversary edition. However, I hate the writing over the damascus.

I hesitated over the Native 5 LW because I just couldn't imagine that 2.5" inches of usable edge would work for my EDC uses. The light weight, new back lock design and swedge finally won me over. My plan is to carry it exclusively for a week or two, then switch to an equal amount of time with a Delica and see which one I like better. So far I have been really impressed with the Native, though, and my concerns over the limitations of the shortish amount of edge for the overal size are proving to be unfounded. The ergos are just so excellent I have not missed my bigger blades at all.
