Spyderco on Tactical knives cover

looks like a chopper with choke up ability for fine work. Hmmmmm cc is starting to shake

kind of looks like a kuk. / barong cross with abit of the persian handle for good measure !!! i bet its a real nice blade to handle. H1 as well so no rusty problems either

So, the real question becomes ..., will it be shipped prior to Christmas? :D

It will be close. I don't think we'll be shipping before Christmas, but not too long after.

Sorry 'bout the price. It is one big chunk of a very special stuff that is hard to get and hard to work with. That's why we elected to use FRN for the scales and sheath. using micarta or G-10 and a Boltaron sheath would have addd another 150 to the price.

Design: Excellent design by Ed Schempp. Ed put his many years of experience in this piece, ergos and balance are, IMO, exceptional.

Material: H1 is the a super material. Hard at the edge, never ever rusts. In our tensile strength testing H1 was 20% - 33% stronger than VG-10.

This is the one you put in the "Calamity / survival pack".

Hi Swingshot,

Hard to say. The Rock is a good size for al all around, go anywhere, in any environment blade (Jungle, mountain, sea). Light enough to carry easily, yet large enough for hacking or batoning, defense if necessary, food prep, animal processing, etc.

I think it will be somewhat limited in production due to the costs and processing or the steel.

Far a larger blade, there are also questions regarding thickness and grinds. I'd rather make the big one out of something like 52100

I think Ed would agree.

Sal, how does the FRN sheath work in comparison to Kydex?

I ask because I've had problems with Spyderco factory sheaths in the past, specifically they would hold grit which would scrape the edge off my brand new knife (this was a FB01). I'm pretty sure the sheath was too snug on the edge, does the FRN sheath give enough room for debris to fall out?

I like tool steel like 52100 for larger knives although the Italian steel on the Woodlander
seems to be pretty good. I see it making a great dive knife but I would have to go some to pay 10 times as much for the super salt than say a 420HC Condor machete.
