I think that the H1 is very suitable for the design of the knife. This blade is designed to multitask in environments that are conducive to rust.
Scratching the blade is a problem with most plastic sheaths. It is a series of trade-offs. The plastic sheaths with stand moisture much better than leather. For that very reason some may put blades away without cleaning and drying, some may have to put them away wet. This durability to water might lead to dirt entering the sheath and therefore scratches. As unsightly as this may be, it does not hurt the function or longevity of the knife.
The 10 inch camp knife is a different animal and therefore will need a different steel at a different hardness; 52100 would be my choice...Take Care...Ed
