They forgot #seriouslychippyS30V
#waitforasprintindecentsteel

not sure how you handle your knives but i own at least 20 knives in s30v (benchmades kershaws zt spyderco etc)and i USE my knives opening boxes cutting zipties running across staples making fire sticks and outdoors constantly
short of batoning ive done it all
never had any chipping issues whatsoever
maybe if you use a microscope and are anal retentive and go for mirror edges (not really practical in a real world situation you want some teeth on your edge)
maybe 10 yrs ago when s30v first came out and it had inferior hardening etc
but todays s30v is one of the top steels around
i own m390 cts204p s35vn s110v etc
ive had 110v chip more than s30v

its a perfectly fine steel for daily use
i find when people only own "sprint" knives or complain about steels its mostly people who only own safe queens and use their "display knives" to cut paper

a knife is a tool its meant to be used

I'm totally stoked for this one. Hopefully some interesting colors available. Black is kind of boring.

I've got to back JR88FAN up here. I have to do more edge maintenance on my Para 2 in S30V than I do my mini-grip in 154cm, which by most accounts is a slightly inferior steel... that I really wish spyderco would start using.

That's set at roughly 17dps. If I bring it up to 20dps it doesn't chip, but then, the 154cm didn't chip to begin with. Why pay more for a more problematic steel?

I'm hoping we see this in FRCP or FRN at some point in BD1 or really anything else.

Have they done a compression lock in FRN before?

It looks like the normal PM 2 just a tiny bit smaller. The first PM to the 2 was a huge improvement, but this looks unnecessary. No new steel (even with newer steels like XHP being better in many aspects and still a good price), and it looks like a slight refinement on an already perfectly refined knife.

PM 3 is near the top of my "get" list for sure. I want to like the PM 2, but it's too big, both blade length and, to a lesser extent, handle length, for me to be comfortable carrying most days. That won't necessarily stop me buying another PM2 at some point if the mood strikes, but knives that are closer to the ~3" blade length / ~7" overall length get way more of my carry time and are easier for me to justify buying. A half inch off of each end would put it smack dab in my ideal knife size range, so I'm eager to find out the actual specs. For me, and others, too, it seems, the PM 2 is not perfectly refined, but PM 3 may very well be. :):D:thumbup:

I wasn't really interested in this one, but now that I see it I want it. :D

Never had an issue with S30V.

+1 for a 154cm para

Hmm. The Para2 is a pretty much perfected design already. This one just seems very similar, some minor tweaks here and there but no new features to really warrant a new version.

This is just smaller version, not a replacement for the Para 2. Its for those who prefer a smaller knife or are forced to use a smaller knife due to local laws. They also seem to be using it as a test bed for some of the QCI improvements on a platform super similar to a Para 2. Likely we will see a small refresh to some of the Para 2's hardware before too long.
