Spyderco Paramilitary or Benchmade Griptillian for edc?

PM2 for sure. I heard the spring can break in the benchmade lock.

Get the PM2 and a Military

I have had both Pm2s and Grips.

At some time in their lives the have taken a short fall with blades opened.

Say 3 feet. table height.

For some reason the PM2 always goes point first and snaps the tip.
The Grip. Just another ding on the scale.

And if you wear a grip blade down or break it.
$35 bucks and BM will reblade it.

Get both.

I have both... I had used the grip 7 yrs in construction type environment. That his included putting holes in sheet rock, electrical plated and plywood I would place tip into the medium and twist in a circular motion carving a round hole to pass cables, conduit, and edc. Slice through cat 5 abs simular material in a pinch. It also fell 30ft to a concrete floor closed thankfully, dented but still working. The reason I retired it was because I changed jobs and now work in a moist environment and didn't feel like subjecting the omega spring and d2 blade to that much sweat and moisture.. I tried the mini grip just not the same...

The Para feels superior but more fragile I carried it at work for a bit but found the tip to be fragile and the amount of pocket space it consumes took up too much room. How ever super easy to operate with gloved hands and low rust was great. If you ever want a giggle hand it to a person who can't seem to figure out the lock ...

With that said I now carry a non waved Emerson it for some reason seems to hide abuse also the chisel grind makes removing stickers off stuff my toddler sticks them too a breeze

Of the two I would take the PM, which is very nice indeed. Before I would buy the Grip I would buy the new Cold Steel American Lawman in CTS-XHP.

With the pm2 being so close in price, I would go with it over the benchmade just for the S30v over the 154cm.

I've EDC'd both, and I like the PM2 better. Better design IMHO, and much much easier to disassemble and reassemble, which is always a consideration for me (b/c I like to take 'em apart).

I also have both knives. The PM2 is a better knife in every respect. But the Grip is a good knife and, frankly, I've carried it more than the PM2. My Griptilian is an older model with 440C steel that I used for about a year or more. I never liked the balance of it but it performed well. The PM2 came to my possession several years later. While I like the PM2 better as a knife, by the time I got it I owned so many other knives I liked better it just never fit into the rotation very much. I think at today's prices, the PM2 is a better deal.

If you're open to suggestions, I would advise looking at the Benchmade Presidio Ultra instead of the Griptillian. It's about the same size as the Grip but I like the Presidio Ultra better. It has a skeletonized full steel liner that gives it a better balance than the Grip. Despite 440C being an older stainless steel, it performs well and I have never had any complaints with it--takes a blazing edge. I like the blade shape of the Presidio better than the Griptilian and I also prefer the synthetic handle material over the aluminum panels on the deluxe Presidio model. Personal choice of course.

The PM2 is a million times better than the Griptilian. Go with the PM2!

A million times better? I deem your math to be an error... perhaps you misplaced a decimal... by a couple hundred feet.

If the handle is your only concern simply because you've read reviews that state a "cheap feel", then you are doing yourself a disservice by at least seeking one out and handling it for yourself. Myself, I found the PM to have a "cheap feel" as well. I know the materials are sound, but that was my general impression anyways. BM handle materials are also very sound and will treat you well.

Simply a matter of getting your hands on both. That will tell you loads more than all of our subjective thoughts on the matter.

The omega springs in the Axis lock have been known to break. Doesn't happen very often but breakage is possible. But lots of stuff is "possible", just not likely.

Both are great knives. However as someone else has mentioned the PM2 is really the better value. You get better steel (S30V vs. 154CM) and better handle material (G10 vs Zytel) for around the same price. I also just think it's a much more refined knife. I've owned both but ended up selling the Grip.

My grip has an awesome d2 blade and I think it runs circles around the pm2

While I cant respond to the paramilitary I've edc the Grip for 2 years now.At first I didn't care for the handle because it was plastic. But I loved the shape of it. My grip has done everything I could ask of it and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I do find it funny of people referring to 154cm as being an inferior steel. I remember when 154 was considered a premium steel. I do like s30v and have some knives in it. But for everyday use I don't see the bi deal in if its s30v or 154. But that's just my opinion.

Both are great knives. If you are going to get a Griptilian get the Ritter.

Pm2 no doubt. They almost don't even compare when you actually hold them in your hands. Had a grip. Gave it away.
