Spyderco Phil Wilson Southfork impressions and review

Phil Wilson just simply makes the most perfect utility fixed blades, I can't imagine too much higher cutting performance for medium to soft materials. These are a very overbuilt version with the lower hardness, thicker grind, higher degree edge angle, and completely full tang...for half the price and no 2 year wait! Amazing knives and high value! I prefer the soon to be released twig with it's smaller bird and trout shape for belt carry utility but the southfork is a cutting machine.

wow phil pretty cool of you to respond. Thanks for taking the time. putting a real person behind the name on a product is not the norm these days, it gives me that much more confidence in the knife and makes me happy to tell others about your knives. Honestly it makes me glad I spent my dollar on it...

Anyhow... that is the exact work I am describing. I try to be careful but the bone contact happens, I am looking forward to using it, as said its my first knife in S90v and am liking it a lot. lets hope I catch a limit of small mouth in few weeks to give it a work out. If everyone on the trip catches their limit its 30 bass to clean plus any pan fish we keep. I will be sure to pass the southfork around, theres couple "knife guys" in the group.

just saw the sprig on knife works.... :) is it basically the same blade but drop point? I like the looks.
