Spyderco P'kal review yet ??

Ah, very nice to see that they're now shipping- it's been quite a wait. I'll have to clamber onto that bandwagon in the near future. :)

Edit: is the trainer going to be far behind? If the combo option comes out in the near future, I may just buy that. :D

Unfortunately, there's no place comparing them directly, you have to compare for yourself. The best place to see what SN does is on www.shivworks.com -- the trailer for REM II shows him in action, the link to the trailer is right on the front page. If I remember right, you'll see his tight arc and relatively squarer body mechanics and lightning fast delivery. SN's strike might be the more instinctive movement if you haven't trained before. As for Ray, here's a video on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om0U6Cr8Y18 he's the shorter guy. His style has changed significantly since then, but you can still see the straight jab (there's also arcing forehand strikes, ignore those and focus on the jab). Actually, here's a better one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV5TfZBB1Lo Ray's nontelegraphic jab is unbelieveable. He lets you put on a helmet, tells you he's going to hit you in the face, lets you put your hands up, and I still haven't seen anyone able to block it!

Amazing video Joe. I can hardly see Ray's hands move. It almost looks like he is slicing the blade rather than stabbing. Is what he is doing the same as SN's almost modified hammerfist?

UPS just dropped off my P'Kal. It's everything I hoped for. The clip is a little tight, but that'll work out real soon, as I expect to be drawing this one non-stop all evening.

Thanks very much to Mr. Glesser, SouthNarc, Mr. Rinaldi, and anyone else that had a part in this beautiful knife.

heh, it's funny how he telegraphed each strike with a "Here I come", same timing on each as well. Good hand speed. The other vid shows how important initiative/momentum is when moving into contact range.

What this product is however is a fun, creative, collaborative effort in excellence to offer the public what they have asked for to the best of our capabilities. It's for the enthusiast. Do you need one? Nope. But if life were about nothing more than our needs then we wouldn't really have that much fun would we?

SN

So true! I got one of these a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Before I got this, I was carrying a very nice custom folder on a daily basis. In general, customs are much more pleasing to carry, but the P'kal is just such a great little piece. I'm not even a pakal guy. In fact, pakal still confuses me a little bit. But it doesn't matter with this Spyderco collab. since it works in all grips. Cuts like the best knives out there and is just a fun, great carry piece. Thanks to all who made this happen.
