SO I am saving up for a new knife or two, preferably a Spydie. I do fancy the Paramilitary 2, since it gets such good reviews, but of course for the same money I can get more knives, such as maybe a Becker Necker and a Mora or two, if I get the Delica instead, maybe with the Super Blue, which I think is pretty cool. So, which would you prefer, and why, and yes, in the end I will have to choose based on my own personal preferences. Take it away!
Incidentally, my most expensive knife so far has been an Endura.

Having never owned a PM, I can't speak for it. However, I have and use two delicas and they are very solid knives for a great price. You are right that you could get some additional knives with it, just make sure if you do that you choose knives you will use. Having lots of knives is great but if you don't use them then why have them?
For the record, I am getting the blue steel version of the delica when I can find one:thumbup: my favorite shopping site is out right now but I am looking.

Go for the PM2 since it is completely different than the Endura you already own. The Delica is just a smaller version of the Endura. You can still get a Mora for not much more. That's my 2 cents:)

I've had a Delica for a couple years and use it regularly.

I recently picked up a PM2 and it's far too big for normal EDC purposes. It gets so much praise around the forums I had to try one for my one, but Im regretting the purchase now. :\

I'll probably sell it in the near future because I really dont see myself carrying it. So for my use, Delica > PM2.

If you enjoy edc'ing an endura go eith the pm othereise go with the delica. I never understood why the delica was so popular as it was a lockback. That is until I was recently gifted one. Ergonomically has two carve out on the handle for your fingers and is more comfortable than a mini grip. This is in spite of how thin the delica is which allows it to wear super comfortable clipped. If you hold down the lock gravity takes over and you can one hand it OK as well. It will never be an axis lock but I was shocked when i liked it better than a mini grip which was more money.

Delica vs. Para2? There is really prettly little comparison between the two except they both look like Spydercos. Pretty much everything about the Para2 is a significant upgrade. I've owned and used both. I've taken both apart just to see what makes 'em "tick." In comparison, I would say the Delica has more in common with a stamped out slip joint than it does with the Para2. The Para2 has more in common with a Strider SnG than it does with a Deloca. IMO, the Delica is a toy compared to the Para2. Lackluster build quality doesn't bother me on a multi tool or multi bladed knife but I want my single bladed folders to be built with higher tolerances & stouter designs.

The Delica is a classic. Slim, useful for utility and self defense. Inexpensive, especially if bought used. For fun, try a fully serrated blade. Spyderco makes the best serrations. Per the Para2, it's not in the same league as a Delica. Similar blade shape, but it will be bigger, heavier and much more expensive.

The Para 2 is NOT a knife; it is a TRADITION. I recommend that you experience it.

The PM2 is too much of a knife when it comes to EDC in Urban Situations and I prefer the Delica VG10. YMMV though but the super blue is an equally good steel.

the only thing is do you want to walk around with a pm2 as an edc? seems a little bulky compared to the delica as an edc in your pocket.

plus you have more things to go wrong with the pm2, like the axis lock.

I think you mean Compression lock. Either way I have had both, and the Para 2 is way more knife, but you need to ask yourself, are you going to use/need it? People on this forum worship the Para 2. Don;t get me wrong it is a great knife, but the handle (for me) has too small of a grippable area due to it's shape. The blade : Handle ratio is too small and the compression lock bites me if i don't pay attention to it. If you want a similarly built knife but not as large, you could always try a native 5.

If you really like Super Blue you should get the Delica, as it is a sprint run and won't be as available in the future. Thats a big factor because if you want to go back and try the delica later you won't get the version you want.

If you want to try a more quality knife with better materials and construction, go with the PM2.

I personally don't like either of these due to the Blade:Handle ratio. Thats a huge factor for me. The PM2 had way too much handle for about a 3" cutting edge. The delica as well, but the delica offers a smaller blade with a good sized handle for those who don't need large blades, but have larger hands. So I can see the appeal there.

which knife would you prefer if not the pm2 nor the delica because of blade handle ratio?

If I only had two Spydies to choose from they would be the Para2 and the Delica ZDP189 ~~ as you just can't beat these two knives ~~ and believe me I have tried many -- many times over the years to change my mind and as of yet I have not found two better Knives.!** Enough said.*************

I know you didnt mention it, but you could take a look at the Manix 2 lightweight. Its close to the price of a delica, has similar weight and handle material, but a bigger blade. Its a good size knife without the heft.

Both knives are wonderful, but the Paramilitary 2 really is worth the price. It's one of my new favorites. There is literally nothing about it that I don't like, and I'm very picky about my knives.

Not correct. There's less things to go wrong than an axis lock, ball lock, Lock back, is as simple as a liner lock, but WONT fail if say, you dropped it I'm mud and had to cut with the spine LOLOL. I have gunked up a compression lock pivot with chunky mud, flicked the excess off, opened it and spine whacked it to no ill effect, then gave it a swoosh in water, and it was good as gold. If you get something in a lock back, chances are it will be a slip joint. And a liner or frame lock ends up failing.... Put all this aside, pm2 is just a more bad ass knife. :p. It's perfection, I always found the delicate too small and the ginger grooves don't like up well, the bump between the first and second groove lines up on my middle finger, not between my middle and ring
