Spyderco Rubicon Goodness

I like it after my initial dislike for flippers. I'll pick one up. It's not in the new catalog

It was shown at the Spyderco Amsterdam Meet in March 2014 and confirmed by Sal as a production sample so we should see it sooner rather than later:

The Rubicon ws a prototype made from tooling, so closer to a production sample. The orange accents are final and match the designers model.

Now that is sweet! I definitely want one, but it'll probably be out of my price range.

Good point. I think if they can keep the street price at under $200 it'll be a winner.

I know I was very hesitant to buy a Chaparral Stepped Titanium when it first came out for around a street price of $360! I waited and then after about 2-3 months the price dropped by $100!

I reserve the mad dash only for sprints and even then it's easy to miss them. Kind of like you snooze you lose. No biggie.

This one looks great. I only wish the g10 was blue instead of orange. :D

Very nice knife hopefully it falls within my getting more limited all the time price range.

It still cracks me up when we get the "it's only s30v" comments. Seriously!?

pretty much. S30V is pretty underrated now days when there are other steels available. People forget how great S30V is. Plus Spyderco's heat treat on S30V is top notch.

Anybody hear anything new about the Rubicon? As a production sample last month I'm expecting it sooner rather than later although some places have it down as 4th quarter!

This is the best looking of the new Spyderco line for 2014. If it's under $200, I'll buy one for sure!

Merry Christmas. ;)

Take my money please? This is going to be a home run along with the Marcin Slysz Bowie or as I like to call it "Big Daddy Techno".

Honestly I hate orange(and yellow for that matter), but this one grows on me a little more each time I take a look at it. I'll probably wait for the initial release rush and then pick one up a little later...hopefully the after release rush drought will be less time than the Southard, I don't know if I could wait that long lol.

I know I'm in the minority, but I just can't get into this one. Partially the orange, partially the blade shape, partially the pocket clip (mostly the clip). I do love how comfortable the scales look, and it looks like the quality is indeed going to be custom level if that initial model is any indication.

Now the Bowie, on the other hand...

Non lefty friendly like the Southard is a deal breaker for me. The "Big Daddy Techno" is what I want most no doubt.
