I have read people say it is a heck of a knife, but not worth $200+. What do you all think? They sure look nice and sounds like they have good steel.

Sure seem to be selling well at over 200. Quality knife, great materials. Shrug, I don own one, but I like the look.

as a owner of one i would say yes if thats the kind of knife you need. other than that nope, great EDC capabillity in this blade and i like it alot after a few tweaks done by me. i ground down 2 shaprt points on the clip and a sharp point on back of the choil. i accually hated the knife when i got it in hand at first but yeah its up to you

Save another 4 months and get a nice custom.

I think it is a great knife and the equal of customs that would easily run $400-$700. Although I really love the ZT 561, the Southard is a nice understated alternative.

depends on the person, i dont own one (yet?) but it seems reasonably priced for what youre getting... i wish i could say the same for all of spydercos offerings IE spyderco cf balance, leafstorm, re-release of the starmate etc etc :)

Without a doubt the Southard is worth it. I'd even say it could be $300+ and be well worth it. Understand that at this point you are buying a luxury item and performance (aside from the steel, which is great) isn't going to be any better than a $100 knife. If you're in it for the exotic steel, the thick ti frame lock, ball bearing pivot, and outstanding fit and finish and attention to detail then it is absolutely worth it. This knife has been compared by many knowledgeable and experienced knife knuts as equal to the likes of Chris Reeve and even (gasp...) Hinderer. It's an absolutely world class knife and a heck of a bargain at its current market price.

Yes, I do think it is worth it. Fit and finish are excellent and thr matrrials used are great as well. I think it is inline with prices for aimilar knives as well.

There is a long thread in the Spydreco forum from us lefties rattling for a version. Grrrrrr.

I just obtained one. I don't have any experience with other flippers or knives at this price point to answer your question. I believe I got my money's worth but that's highly subjective. While I don't have much experience with knives I'm pretty sure they are like most other things where competition is fierce, you usually get what you pay for.

The Southard is one of the best deals on the market right now IF:

(1) you enjoy right-hand carry flippers; it is a greater value and has better (or equal) quality than virtually every other flipper [including ZT 560, BM 300, kershaw flippers, and hinderers].

Personally, I am ambidextrous and enjoy changing the pocket clip on my knives all the time. I would not purchase a southard because it forces right hand carry.

Fantastic knife.....worth in my opinion much more than two bills.

I have been enjoying mine! Previously my most expensive folder was a Sage 2.

I don't own a sebbie or anything, else in that price range and am also curious to how the quality at this price point compares.

For the money I would have liked to see them do something with the Ti side, like the ZT560. It looks a little plain there, and could benefit from some texture.

Worth it? It's a bargain.

Good luck trying to find a titanium flipper as nice for double the price.

I paid $224 for mine and it really is a bargain. F&F are amazing for the price and that is based on my main EDCs are Sebenzas.

Meh, for one, the G10 on it is very grippy and the knife has all the traction it needs in hand. The stonewash on it looks very nice like a hinderer or a vecp. I think it would look a little too buisy had it beengiven that texture like the 560.
