Spyderco Southard Worth $200+ ?

Just about no knife out there is worth the money it costs. We pay for cool. I think most of the people on this forum could get through their day just fine with a Opinel or SAK. Hell most folks in the world don't even carry a knife on a daily basis.

Oh - oh - oh - ban that guy!!! :D

I payed less then $230 for it. I suppose its value goes down as the price goes higher than that for me because it is made in Taiwan... But then again, if it was made in Golden, I'd have no reservations paying up $400 for it. So basically, its a damn fine knife in my book lol, happy to get it at that price point.

It interested me enough to shell out for it last night. As has been stated repeatedly, value is relative. If you can afford it, and it makes you happy, its worth it. If it fails to fall into those two categories, move on to another blade.

For me, the combination of Ti frame lock, caged bearing system, and CTS-204P steel was enough to make it worth it. If there is a "state of the art" in the unassisted folder world, I think this is as close as a production knife comes right now.

Of course I reserve the right to change my position when i get it in hand.

No.....only because I'm not a flipper fan.

Chris D. :D
What's your objection to flippers, Chris? I absolutely love them. In fact, I just picked up one of my grail knives . . . a sealed thrust bearing, non-AO, button-lock flipper with full Titanium handles. I can't imagine why I would want to go back to fumbling around with thumbstuds and holes when opening my knife one-handed is as easy as pulling a trigger.
