Seems like I have been waiting forever for the new spyderco starmate to show up. Anyone know when I can see one in the flesh?

Haven’t seen any movement on this piece yet! The Edgerati is rumored to dropped soon and that’s from Reveal 17 in January! I’ll try to update the reveal 18 thread when availability becomes imminent!

Why not just buy a vintage version? 🤷‍♂️

There are a couple on EB listed for less than the price of the upcoming sprint.

I want the upgrade from vg-10 steel.

Ok then you just need to be patient & keep an eye out for notice of the release here by DA170 or on the official Spyderco Forums by Buddafucco or TazKristi

Good luck!

The original is the only way to go. The re-release from a few years ago had design issues, and definitely cut corners. The upcoming, I saw at Blade, was similar to the last re-release, and was a disappointment.

Supposedly this sprint run is somewhere in "final CQI". To those who pay attention, like we do here, this isn't adding up to anything good. This much time in CQI and final inspection means they're either trying to "time" sprint model releases, or (WAY MORE LIKELY), there's something wrong and and batch is being thrown in the ocean and re-done. At this point, even if Spyderco had farmed out the QC of the Starmate to government workers, there's no way it would be this far behind. Something is rotten in Denmark, er Golden.

I'm thinking something less sinister = they are still building up their brand new plant and have A LOT of back promised knives to fulfill .
? 🤷‍♂️
I've practically given up on the BBB knife . 😢😳

I saw a worker at Spyderco hand sharpening Starmate blades at the SFO today. Make of that what you will.
I'm thinking . . .
wow they are getting robotics down to the point it is impossible to tell man from machine .
Yeah and I bet the machine is thinking "Why did they ever think a mere human could sharpen knives on a production line . . . madness ".

The last one was $300, the upcoming one is $450. I bet they've made improvements on the last re-release.
I have an original, and it's nice enough that I can't see spending what the new one is going to cost, regardless of steel.

Bob posted this on his instagram yesterday. Assuming (hoping!) this means Starmates will start shipping to dealers soon!
