Hey BF,

I have owned many different knives from different companies; 5 different ZT's, 1 kershaw, 1 coldsteel, 1 SOG and 4 benchmades at different times. I can only notice a serious lack of spyderco knives. So, I am looking to buy 1 or two spyderco knives to see what all the hype is about. I am looking for your suggestions about which knives I should purchase?

One of these obviously has to be a paramil 2.
Wonderful ergonomics and a real charmer.
Just be sure to get it from
an authorised Spyderco dealer or something.

Spyderco Manix 2 G10! I've used mine for lots of fun stuff and it just works. Edge retention is great on the s30v steel and its very corrosion resistant. Trust me, I've had that bad boy completely soaked in sweat in my OCP pocket for days on end.

How do you like the lock vs axis lock?

yes, I was thinking a PM2. That is why I was thinking about getting 2 because everybody says they love the PM2 haha. I will be careful where I get it.

Your not mentioning size/weight/cost preferences so this is a shot in the dark, based on what I own and like.

I'm gonna say go straight to the Paramilitary 2.
Also consider the Manix 2/Manix 2 XL and the Military.

Of course the bread and butter Delica, Stretch and Endura are hugely popular if you like FRN/FRCP scales.

More expensive is the Slysz Bowie, beautiful and useful in equal measure.

And who wouldn't want a Mamba?!?! I know i do.

TBH, I don't really have a specific usage in mind. Anywhere from EDC to tactical. It seems spyderco (in comparison) to ZT is on the slimmer and lighter. How do you like that domino? I still have multiple ZT's and a few BM's that I primarily use and honestly can't see me switching... But I have to give the spydie hole a chance haha.

I really love the szabo and ti millie. I wasn't a fan of the pm2. Waved endura has a really cool blade profile. Domino is another awesome spydie.

My favorite 2 and my favorite edc combo are the pm2 and dragonfly2 as far as folders go. They are the two i keep going back to.
The delica4, military, and caly 3 would be my runner ups off the top of my head.

If you want a slicer, I would recommend Stretch 2 or Gayle Bradley 2.
If you want a robust knife, Manix 2 would be a good choice.
And I think that Paramilitary 2 is a great compromise of both.

The PM2 is iconic for a reason. It's one of those knives every blade affecionado should try at some point. It's a great slicer. I love the ergos, action, and compression lock, but personally find it a little awkward for front pocket cary; YMMV. When it's in my rotation, it's usually in a cargo pocket or on it's way to a heavy use situation.

The Delica 4 is a great design, but sadly the one I purchased has some pretty glowing shortcomings in the finish department. Perhaps it was an outlier, but my experience falls short of what I expect with other Spydies and I can't reccommend it (unless you get to handle your specific knife first).

I think the Native 5 is a great all around choice. The G-10 version is a pretty good place to see what Spyderco is all about. I really doubt you'd be disappointed with it.

Para2 in CruWear or M4....

Or a Manix 2 in Cruwear.
The handle/blade ratio on the PM 2 isn't for me.

The manix 2 with the upgraded steel is my goto daily carry over my sebenza, zt0770cfM4, endura, and a handful of others.

Delica and PM2 are both excellent entries into Spyderco. The Delica is both smaller and less expensive, and is the perfect entry folder.

The Domino is nice but one of my least carried TBH, I just prefer the size/weight ratio of the others.
I have a few ZT's that are great flippers, the 0562 in particular, and several BM's that I really like using.
My Spydercos out number them all though.

I'll agree with you, I have the manix 2 lightweight in BD1 and blue FRN handle, and I gotta say - one of my most favorite knives in my collection EASILY
