Spyderco thumb hole problem: It cuts!

Looks good, but: It is not clear to me exactly what the black bits are. So, what is it?

Zip ties, …. don’t do that.

Zip Ties: Not good . . .Why?

It has gotten me thinking about some leather lacing . . .

I had that problem on a Buck vantage pro 20cv awhile back. Blade was hard enough regular sand paper wouldn’t touch it so I used my diamond rod to de-burr the inside corner and that fixed it. Yes I cut my thumb first thing outta the box. I said, dang you! Lol

3X zip ties .

WARNING : Many consider this a hideous desecration and scorn this common and practical DIY method of wave opening mod for thumb holes . Many will laugh .

But its super cheap , easy , and generally works fine .

Can help with regular thumb opening and also provide a thumb rest or ramp .

Let them laugh !

Note pressure bandage on finger from when I installed the ties , cinching them down tight . Be aware of serrations !

Hey , they work fine and do no permanent damage to the knife (aesthetics aside) .

Easily removed if you can't bear the shame .
