Just dropped some coin on a Spyderco Vallotton... Any thoughts? I have been wanting one for a long time and it sounded like a good deal so I decided it was time:) they look stout but it will be carried in my back pack for the most part. It will be my first spyderco and it will be my first S30v blade so I am excited to test the waters with that too.

I love mine. One of the two Spydies ive kept after getting rid of alot of my knives. Its a beautiful unbreakable beast.

The Vallotton was my first Spydie, too. I really didn't like the look of most Spydies, but something about the Vallotton screamed, "Buy ME!" Many people find it too bulky to EDC, and it's not due to its width, but its thickness. Sucker is as thick through the handle as many fixed blades. But that's part of what I adore about the knife. It's overbuilt for sure, but in a beautiful kinda way. It'll stand up to anything you throw at it. The action on mine is smooth as butter, and the lock up is rock solid.

It's a gorgeous knife, the fit and finish are unparalleled, overbuilt, and gets compliments from non knife people despite its size.

I've always wanted one, and plan on getting one someday knowing that I probably won't carry it much because it is too pretty!

Yeah this is the problem... I sit and fondle mine while at home, but feel really bad about using it.

Its a fantastic knife, too large for daily carry, but an epitome of Spyderco's top notch fit and finish. It is also a deviation (in a good way) from the flat scaled folders. The only downside is the liner lock digs into my hands for heavy duty jobs. But I still love it!

Mmmm, so beautiful.

I'm still holding out to make one of my next big purchases the D/A conversion Vallotton.

They are pretty but I really want to use mine. I like my knives to get some blood and animal fur once in awhile :) I will post pics when I get it hopefully clean a few squirrels if I get by be before next weekend!

Yeah for sure. If you're planning on making it a heavy user (and it definitely can take any abuse you'll throw at it), getting it scratched and used up early will help. :D

It's a very interesting knife and I don't think it's too big for EDC. I like the polished G10. I like the blade shape, especially the grind near the tip that is reminiscent of a real tanto.

for the record i want to use it not abuse it. hope doesn't get to scratched up to soon :) i can't even bring myself to abuse a BUSSE :)

Congrats man - Awesome knife! I've had MANY custom knives that didn't have as nice fit and finish as the Vallotton. It's thick but extremely robust. Not great for a reverse grip IMHO but a beautiful knife all the same. Cheers.
