Spyderco?

I don't think spyderco was ever in the same league as frost !!! All my spyderco knives are top quality an that includes the vintage models!!

Spyderco started by selling high quality Japanese made folders so I think you're off the mark here. If you're talking aesthetics, then that's much more subjective.

Sir I believe you really must be mistaking spyderco for another brand. They are one of the biggest innovators in the knife world and are responsible for inventing the pocket clip, one handed opening , and were among one of the firsts to use and experiment with high quality steels and mark it on the blade ! And that's just to name a few things the have given to the knife community !!

You must've been out of the loop for a while. . . like FOREVER. . . no seriously, though there was a time when I wondered what the hell Sal & Co. were thinking. But they've always been ones to push limits and come up with some crazy designs. The thing about it, though, is that it's all in the name of making some REALLY REALLY REALLY good stuff. They never fail to impress me.

I've been away from knife stuff for awhile and reading some of these threads surprise me a bit. When did Spyderco jump from Frost status to BenchMade Status? I 'bout fell off my chair the first time I read about someone recommended the Spy over BM.

What year was this? Spyderco's Frost status, I mean.

This...I haven't been around knives forever but I've never heard of anything like what you're talking about.

Though I've never heard anyone compare Spyderco with frost, I can see where the OP is coming from. Not too long ago, a lot of folks looked down on any product that was made in Japan; it was yesterdays Taiwan/Indonesia etc. I remember a few friends reaction to a spyderco I had purchased in the early days and they were not impressed. It was ridiculed for being plastic, Japanese, and having a clip on it like the cap on a bic pen.

Frost! Really??? Are you serious:confused::p

NEVER, NEVER been anything even remotely close to a frost in any regard.

I bought my first Endura in the early 80's, and it was made great then, and is still going strong. I've put it through hell, and it looks like it, but just as smooth and tight as the day I got it.

Spyderco's have been very well made from the very start. Have no idea where you got your info.
