Spydercos Are Weird Looking!

I also think folding Spyderco knives are a bit weird, but that is also because I am not a fan of folders in general. Although for me, the Street Bowie or the Beat look pretty basic. I do not think there's anything special about them; the same applies with the Aqua Salt or the Bushcraft versions. They seem to be pretty regular for me.

Without of doubts there are knives made by Spyderco, which look weird to some people. But I can find weird looking knives made by any or almost any company. All depends what you consider weird. Also there are tons of very good looking knives made by Spyderco. I never had trouble to find them.

"Steven K" I appreciate what you just said as much as I appreciate this thread that "Ironbut" gave us for consideration. It's been a very interesting and thought provoking thread to really make newbies and hard core Spyderheads alike take a hard look at Spyderco's most 'unusual" designs and collaborations.

But I will reiterate that "functionality" has a beauty of it's own. It may not be pleasing to a lot of people aesthetically but a knife is first and foremost a "tool". A tool is meant to do a specific job and not necessarily meant to look nice. But as I said on my previous post on this thread "functionality" truly has a beauty all to itself. I've currently got a thread going on the Spyderco C-60 Massad Ayoob folder and many people think it's hideous looking >> but once I got my first C-60 model and saw how ergonomically great it performed after that I could care less what it really looks like.

I do hope all of you who find many of the Spyderco models not to be beauty contest winners to at least give them a try as an EDC or on any hard use application. The Dodo model is now one of my all time favorite Spyders from a functional viewpoint but I don't know of many people who rave about it's beauty :D Although I do have a lot of fun using it

I'm gonna say, yep they are ugly, but the ergos, design and functionality are unrivaled.

But the only way to convince yourself is to buy one, carry it and use it. You'll see.
