what do you guys think? i just got the gayle bradley in the mail today....and i must say im VERY VERY impressed, i'm at work so i havent got a chance to put it to any use yet but first impressions that its one heck of a high quality knife...so was just wondering what you folks thought as to the holy grail of the spyderco line.

Military

Hands down the "best" Spyderco I've handled.

Are there better ones if you have a specific task in mind? Sure. The Military handles (for me) the widest array of tasks with ease while not compromising on length, ergos, or weight.

"Holy Grail" is a different story. For that I would go with the C27 Jess Horn.

Finding a positive review on the Gayle Bradley Spyderco is in fact easier than shooting fish in a barrel.

That said, there are a lot of different folks out there that have different opinions. Of the complaints I have seen and heard, the difficulty in accessing the lock release is not embraced by all, the weight was not liked by some, and a few people wanted FFG and or a different blade shape. And then of course there is the frequently discussed country of origin stamped on the blade...

The holy grail? I do not think so...but a VERY fine example of what can be done with fairly little money.

Discussing this knife on its merits as a knife and its intended design...it is hard to call it much less than a near perfect execution of what Mr. Bradley said he was going for.

i have heard all of those arguments as well...and everyones entitled to their opinion, like i said, havent got to mess with it too much just yet. and to clear up any misunderstanding, i wasnt calling the gayle bradley the holy grail, i was just using the term to highlight the fact that i was looking for everyones opinion as the best in their eyes

OK, I'll play, since there are no rules ;)

Everyone should own:

1. Delica/Caly3/Sage (pick one, or better yet, buy one of each)
2. Military
3. Gayle Bradley
4. Ladybug
5. Bill Moran (fixed blade)

Looking at everything on paper, I'd say the Gayle Bradley, too. Almost everything about it is nice: the finishing, the attention to detail, the robust construction, the nicely executed carbon fiber, the value, and the excellent blade steel and geometry.

Paramilitary 2/Military for me. IMO it represents everything good about spyderco. Supreme cutting, ergonomic, comfortable, ease of carry, 100% functional, tough.

My favourite of the few I've owned is the Manix 2, easily. We'll see if that changes when I get ahold of a Paramilitary 2...

I'm really enjoying my S30V FFG Manix 2. But I think I might be purchasing a GB this year though :D.

the military is my favorite.

the basic frn spyderco endura is one of the best deals and one of the best all around knives.

i also really like the spyderco perrin ppt because the handle feels like a pistol grip almost.

S90V/CF Paramilitary 2
Knifeworks Ti/G10 Military with RIL and M4 Steel

Those are my favorites at least. :)

My favorite is the Endura. Classic and priced very good. Next step up, to me, is the Military. Also love the H1 Salt because I live near the ocean. 2nd the moran fixed blade even though I don't own one....yet.

Man, this is a loaded question, I never met a spyderco I didn't like. But I do have favorites

Anything designed by Michael Janich- Yojimbo, ronin, ect
Stretch
Military
Waved models- delica,endura,p'kal
Barong
Manix2

Right now if I had to choose one Spyder for the rest of my life it would be.......

The Paramilitary 2

Why? It's lightweight, S30v, and has arguably the strongest lock available, the compression lock.

IMO,gayle bradley folder is at least in the top three.Value and F&F would
make it my first choice.I even bought a second one, just in case they
stop production on this piece.I love the deep straight razor like hollow
grind,as well as no cutout on the "frame like" liner lock,MBC friendly
for sure.

Easily, the Caly 3.
I've owned a few Spydercos in my time and this is my all time favorite; I could even say it's my favorite user of all the knives I've ever owned.
Perfect size, very usable blade shape, bank vault lock up, gets hair popping sharp, handle feels like it belongs in my hand, love the wire clip, and on and on.
