Spyderedged Blades: Your Favorite and WHY?

To me Spyderco has truly taken the serrated blade to a higher level. The Salt Series especially has some great "hard use" SE blades that anyone could benefit from. I also love Spyderco's Hawkbill blades in SE and find them extremely good for certain jobs.

The SE 440V Native I've had for years has truly been a pitbull of a knife and almost indestructible. Also I still use one of the few fixed blade models that Spyderco offered in Spyderedge at one time>> I'm speaking of the FB05 Temperance 1 model from the mid 2000s. I have the PE & SE both in the Temp 1 and still use them quite often.

For a specialty blade I still love my AUS-8 fully serrated Catcherman model. It really baffles me why that Catcherman in full SE didn't become a permanent fixture in the main line up. Because I still use that blade at least 3 times a week in food prep.

OK talking to you guys and gals here at BF I want to ask which Serrated Spyder is your favorite and why? You can include discontinued models because those are some of the ones I like best anyway.

Got a Dragonfly 2 Salt SE on the way for the tackle box and the Delica SE is on my Wish List.

My favorite was a CPM-440V Military. Unfortunately I just got a letter from Spyderco informing me that it is likely too worn out to repair :( So my current favorite is the black-coated SE Native.

I've had a few SE Spydercos over the years, but the only one that has stuck with me is the Salt I. That one (or the Pacific Salt) is about everything I could wish for in an SE knife.

PPT for me. From the second I got it, felt like it was made just for my hand. Plus, it's pretty dang handy!

Add: ooopppsss..spyderedged...reading iz funndementall... :o

My favorite EDC Spyderedge right now is the Ladybug Hawkbill. It is just about perfect for doing all kinds of cutting around the ol' plantation.

But I really do wish Spyderco would make a Spyderedge Hawkbill in the Dragonfly line. Now that really would be perfect.

Dang that's a bummer. I've got one of those beasts and while it has some up and down wiggle, it is still operating fine. I've also got a pair of SE Natives too and they're great knives as well. Both of them in 440V as well and luckily for me I've got a back-up to my user!

However, another of my favorite SE knives is the SS Worker. Fit's so well in my hand and has a great weight distribution.

Interestingly, that was the issue with mine. I thought at first the lockbar just needed to be bent over further to improve the lockup, but Spyderco basically condemned the knife for safety reasons. Of course, to their everlasting credit, they're letting me choose a NEW KNIFE of equal or lesser value to a current production Military. Tactics like these win customer loyalty...all I have left to say is that I wish they still made the SE Military, because that's what I'd prefer as a replacement! :) I am seriously considering getting their only current SE FFG option in the full serrated Police 3.

Oh dang that doesn't make me feel good about mine! I've been checking to see if I can close the blade without disengaging the lock and haven't been able to do that so hopefully it stays that way. And wow, that's a great gesture! If you don't end up getting the police, KSF has FFG SE Stretch's for a good price.

I don't care what anyone says I've always loved 440V ( S60V) blade steel. I still like it better than S30V. The 440V Native and Military models both are superb Spyderedged beasts IMO. I still use my 440V Native quite a bit and I did today actually.

I got a feeling that they will bring back the SE Military>> I've just seen too many people on both these forums requesting them back and I don't think Spyderco will ignore that for much longer.

Again I love the H-1 SE Spyders and the Spyderhawk has been a really great SE Hawkbill.

There was one late 90s model Spyder I had in SE that was super and I wish I never traded it >> so I would like to get another one and I'm talking about the C-54 big Calypso model. That was a crocidile of a knife in SE

Yellow SE Tasman. Cuts way above its size and I happily abuse it and put it away dirty. The Pacific and Salt1 are great in SE as well, but the Tasman is my favorite.

I use a Caspian (blunt tip) when diving and spearfishing, but that's not full SE

The Spyderco "H-1 Salt Series is full of great "hard use" models. H-1 is great blade steel for Spyderedges and many believe its the best. I've always liked 440V for Spyderedges too.

Also different blade styles like recurves for instance I'm sure would be great for Spyderedges but up till now they haven't offered one of the recurves in SE and I can't figure out why? Because I'm sure that a serrated recurve blade would be a beast of a cutter.

Pacific salt...hands down.

Again you can't say enough about the H-1 Salt Series. Now you're not going to find any highly collectible pieces in the Salt Series with the possible exception of the 2 Spyderhawks and Caspian Salt. Because every blade in that series is truly geared for hard use. If you need a blade that you know you're going to use the hell out of then go first to the H-1 Salt Series>> even though I'm regretful that they disco'd the Spyderhawks.

I wish more than anything that they would bring back the original FB05 Temperance 1 models in PE & SE with an H-1 blade in the Salt Series. It would be an affordable fixed blade and in H-1 it would be absolutely perfect for all kinds of outdoor ventures. And it was one of the very few Spyderco fixed blades that they made available in Spyderedge.

I have a black-coated Native that was advertised as a combo edge but in reality is 3/4 serrated ... that is my go-to Spyderedged knife when I need one. And the Native really does feel "natural" in hand - love the ergos of that knife.

I really like Spyderco's SpyderEdge...I find that the overwhelming majority of those who dislike serrations are those who don't know how to sharpen a serrated knife; then again, most folks just don't know how to sharpen any knife. That said, the Delica is about the largest sized folder that I am willing to carry, and the Dragonfly the smallest...and I prefer serrations...

the serrated kitchen knife with the ebony handle, vg10 IIRC. Gets used by the whole family, only spyderco with that distinction.
