altho i do love a good flipper... hmmmmm i need more knives now LOL
 
Hole for lockbacks, thumbstud for everything else. Thumbstuds are not good for lockbacks because it has to be placed so far forward on the blade to overcome the backspring. That forward placement reduces the usable length of the blade, a 3.5" blade on a lockback often has only 3" cutting length, because 0.5" of the blade is behind the thumbstud.
 
Depends. A good stud usually beats the hole, but not every stud is good - depends more on the pivot and the lock.
 
Both are very nice when done well and terrible when not thus i am indifferent (i have yet to try a flipper though, maybe it's time to start :rolleyes: there goes my college education)
