I meant to quote this in post #23.Yes, just have your store request one from Spyderco, or maybe transfer one from another knife dealer.
Couldnt be a possibility to pick one up here on the forum used?
I got mine on here for about $175 USD, several months back...
Hahaha I’ll buy it off ya. LolHonestly, embarrassed to say I just handled it a little, then tucked it safely away!
Haven't cut anything with it, nor tested the corrosion resistance of the steel.
For me, it's just a lot of knowing I've got one, LOL!
I'll probably rotate through my knives eventually to it sooner or later.
I live maybe 25-30 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico in So. Mississippi, so I'll have to take it sometime to the beaches.
Thank you. I’m glad to hear the lock stick eventually stops.CQI is for the ceramic detent — the OG Chef had stainless steel detent. I have one, it is a great knife. Yes there is a little lockstick at first but it wears in nicely, not something that bothered me. The action is super smooth with a drop of oil. I love flicking this knife.
Only negative for me is the wire clip, I've snagged it a few times and it's loose now. I plan on upgrading to a third party milled clip, but many others have had no problem with the stock clip.
Mmmmm, ceramic detent vs my stainless....now I'll be worrying about mine eventually rusting (unless it's LC200N)CQI is for the ceramic detent — the OG Chef had stainless steel detent. After the first few days, mine had no lock stick. It flicks open pretty easily with the middle finger, although it can take a few tries to learn the direction in which to move your finger. Thumb flicking works great. Mine was purchased around the New Year and so isn't a "CQI" version. How do you like yours? I am not a huge fan of the frame lock just because I have heard of lock stick and that just drives me crazy.
Is it possible to spydie flick open with your middle finger?
Hey guys, does anyone know how to tell the dofferance from the cqi model or the the one with the SS detent ball other then taking it apart.
I just pulled the trigger on one on the forum but I just would like to double check somehow without getting the guy to take it apart to show me.
It has original box, is the code different on the box??
Thank you for the info. You should be able to shine a flashlight when opening lock bar to see detent ball easily. Ceramic is battleship grayish. SS is shiney metallic.
Mine was made in April 2018. Purchased a few weeks ago on the trade forum and was a CQI version.
