Anyone have any experience with SpydieGuys?
I recently purchased a Paramilitary from them. Blade is way off center. They suggested I try adjusting the pivot and that they would replace it if that didn't work. It didn't work and now their position is that I should send it to Spyderco for warranty evaluation.

He is a good seller:thumbup::thumbup:. The blade being off centered has nothing to do with him. Spyderco (or his distributor) sent him that knife, and all he is to do is sell it. I own lots of Spydies that are off centered (my para is off-centered), it's just hard to get mass produced factory manufactured knives perfect. It really should not affect its performance though.

Well if they gave you their word then they should make it right. Word is bond. :)

In any case if they do screw you over Spyderco would make it right that's for sure, because their customer service is number 1 in my book.

take care eh

The devil is in the details. If Spydieguys specifically stated that they themselves would replace the knife, then Spydieguys should replace the knife.

However if the stating was more that the knife could be replaced if the adjusting the pivot did not fix the problem, then possibly they meant that Spyderco as a company would do the replacement.

Certainly the faulty knife was not Spydieguys fault. Whether they keep their word about replacement (or not) will be 100% on them.

I have purchased knives from Spydieguys and have always gotten exactly what I ordered.

Best of luck with resolving the problem.

I've bought a knife or two from them before I was a dealer. Good communication and fast shipping

The knife issues are usually between the buyer and the manufacturer, although I know the exact feeling of getting a disappointment in the mail :grumpy:

No matter how good the warranty, it is a real downer getting something new and having to ship it right back off.

I'm sure spydieguys and/or spyderco will fix the problem.

I've also had good dealings with SpydieGuys. I've had a few spydercos from them and haven't had any problems. Hopefully they will make it right or contact Spyderco themselves, that's what their 'true and honest' warranty is for.

from their website:

"Spyderco warrants that all of our products are free from defects in material and workmanship."

Hi Guys,

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. In every listing on eBay it states... everyone has 7 days to return any item. We don't ask why, we just take them back and replace or refund. Been that way since 2006 when we started. I always suggest sending a defective Spyderco to the factory. It saves a step for the buyer, but we will do it whatever way they want.

I appreciate those of you that understand and stated above re: off-center blades, etc... My last concern as a very large Spyderco dealer is the QUALITY I get from them. (I am a direct dealer.) I know that if I notice a defect... it's handled immediately. All I have to do is send it back or even make a quick call to my rep. That's one reason my ENTIRE business (well, 95%) is SPYDERCO.... I have no worries ever about what product I am selling and whether or not my customers are buying quality products from me. Makes life so much better that way....

If in fact the dealer said to try the pivot and if that didn't work, they would replace it, then they should replace it.

I have to say though, unless it is really bad and causing the blade to rub, its just a cosmetic issue imo. We would all like to have our knives perfect, but its not going to happen, especially with production knives... I have heard nothing but the absolute best about Spyderco's customer service, and concern for quality.
At least if you send it back to the factory, you know you will get the knife back with the problem fixed. Where as if you send it back for a replacement, you may get another knife with the same issue.
I know its a pain in the butt having to send something back that you just got though.

BTW welcome to BF's SPYDIEGUY

Fault is often not material.

One often assumes liability to "make it right" by simply selling the item. If a seller wishes to avoid liability for a consumer product, like a knife, that is not functional, the seller needs to conspicuously disclaim warranting the product as "merchantable" (fit for for its ordinary intended purpose) before sale. That is federal law since 1975.

A cosmetic defect that does not impact function is another story. I would think Sal's guys are the best ones to true up the blade.

Sorry you got a knife that you're not happy with. I have owned 5 different paramilitary's and 2 out of those 5 came with off centered blades. If there is no rubbing it shouldn't effect the knife but it bugged me enough to return. I'm sure Spydieguys or Spyderco should get you fixed up.

Personally, I have bought 6 knives from Spydieguys and have gotten perfect knives everytime. The shipping has been lightening fast as I live in Texas too. The only complaint I could possibly think of (which is not their fault) is paying that damn state sales tax.

Good luck with your knife.

They are great imho and they will take care of you

I buy from Spydieguys all the time and will continue to.

Their 7 day return policy is fair, you exceeded that. It only takes a few minutes to adjust the pivot. You should have returned it within the time alotted.

No worrries though, send it to Spyderco and they will make it right. No big deal.

As of today I bought seven times from them.
First six times absolutely perfect. The last time I received a knife with manufacturing defect. I send them e-mail, next day I received reply with return address and a week later I had my beautiful replacement. Great dealer. Never hesitate to buy from him.
Kate and Jess,
Thank you.
