First I will start off by saying I dont own a stider knife. I have considered purchasing one for a long time but never pulled the trigger for a few reasons. What I bring to you all are warranty questions. I have read the warranty section on strider's website and I am confused as to what it means. There are companies like Busse, Ranger Knives, and Bark River, to name a few, that have a no questions asked warranty. Striders are advertised as hard use knives, just like the three companies I mentioned above. I will start off saying that I dont abuse my knives, but if you buy a Ranger or a Busse, I think it is safe to say that these knives are meant to handle much tougher tasks than simply cutting things. I get the same impression on strider knives based on how they are advertised. The warranty description on strider's website is not very specific. So my question is, if the knife breaks from use, will it be repaired/replaced at no charge? I would like to buy one but I will not do it if this is not the case. There are less expensive knives out there that back their products 100%, no matter if the knife was at or the person simply straight up abused the knife. Does anyone have any personal experience or opinion on this. I know that S30V is not as tough as as a lot of carbon steels. Can anyone give me some feedback?

I think it is important to say that I have no positive or negative opinion on stider knives and I am not looking to start any type of war this topic. I am simply looking to find out if anyone has any experience with Strider's warranty.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Steve

From what i understand they have a no questions asked guarantee.

You break it, they replace/ fix it.

Cool. Thanks for the imput guys. That is what I hoped and expected, it just wasnt spelled out like that on their website, so I thought I would bring it to the experts on this site. Appreciate the feedback.

Strider went more than "the extra mile" when it came to some waranty work for me. They did a fine job. I will be buying more Striders.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

I remember reading somewhere that the wording on the warranty was changed because people were "fixing" their knives, messing them up and then sending them to Strider to make them right. Not a big deal except they were using red loctite and other stupid stuff that I can imagine was a giant pain to fix.

The warranty is not as clear cut now - they will cover abuse say broken parts (they wont send it out) or busted locks. BUT they wont cover things like pimping, modding or cleaning which requires dismantling. They'll still fix it but I think theres a small fee.

I 've personally had great things to say about them - i accidentally ruined the edge of it when a "friend" tried to sharpen it for me, without my permission and dulled it so bad I didnt have the proper tools to fix it. Sent it in - sharpened for free, fixed the lock up and covered postage back.

Hey guys, just thougth I would give an update here. I sent an email to strider asking the same question that I did in this post. Instead of getting an answer, I received an email stating that I should check out their forum for more information. I clicked on the link and apparently I have to register before I can review the forums. This is a little strange in my opinion. I dont think the question was a difficult one, why refer me to a forum that I have to register to, in order to get an answer to a simple question.

You registered here to ask the question.

If you break your Strider Knife they will fix it. Now I have heard that if you send a knife in that has been heavily mod'ed, there might be a charge. No personal experience with that, so I'm not 100% certain. But if you buy a Strider knife, and in the course of using it it breaks, then you just send the knife in with some money to cover shipping & they fix it. When I bought my SnG at BLADE 06 I asked about the warranty. The gentleman I bought the knife from turned to a guy rummaging through some boxes & repeated my question. Mick Strider looked up from the box & said if I break it, he'll fix it.

If you look at the header to his post you will see he registered here in May 2007, and waited until April 2008 to ask the question.

Actually... in PMing with Mick he said he would stand behind my modded AR (modded by a user here named Jack Nacci) because it was a clean mod but he said they couldn't stand behind some of the abortions that people had sent in in the past. Which I agree with.

Here's the one I have that is temporarily on holiday doing a passaround on the JD because I was so impressed with it.

And depending on how you broke it you may have to take some sh*t but they (Strider) will still make things right in the end in my experience.
