Any dogs that can cause serious injury are "dangerous". As a pitbull owner I'm sure you know that they have a much more powerful jaw than most dogs.... so in an event that they DO attack they could cause a lot more damage. From my personal experience the little dogs are the feisty ones but if they were to "bite" me, I would be more worried about them tearing up my pant legs then actually taking a chunk out of my leg.
As a pit mix owner myself, I wish other people would do a little actual research before stating inaccuracies about the breeds. First off "Pit Bulls" are commonly a title given to a number of breeds, not actually one. Secondly, their bite is no worse than any breed of similar size. The power of the bite is directly proportional to head size. Not that I would want to be bit by one, but facts are facts. An English Mastiff's bite has far more force than any breed called a Pit Bull, and rivals a Wolf's bite. Also, Pit Bulls do not have lock jaw as some state. They are generally not human aggressive. They were bred to fight other dogs, and any responsible pit owner knows this and always keeps them leashed around other dogs because they generally will not back down to any challenge. Typically, Pit Bulls only attack small children and elderly, and most often they attack in packs of two or more. They still do show fear of grown men. They generally approach silently and lunge with a bite. All of those are the tendencies of a poorly raised dog, or one from a lineage of strong dog fighting background. They do however make great family dogs when raised properly. Having been around other "dangerous" dogs, I would have a Pit Bull before I would take a German Shepard, Rottweiler, Doberman, Chow-Chow, and many many other dogs not generally thought of as dangerous. In fact, I would take a mutt over any pure bred dog for health and demeanor reasons 10 out of 10 times.
