Just got this super rare beauty at the NCCA knife show in Mystic. CT. It is one of only two I have ever seen or heard of, and has some of the greatest stag I have seen on a knife. I am short an arm and a leg, but I sure have one sweet stag KA-BAR!!
Thanks Nuto!! It is likely early 1920s, only one of two known by serious collectors and dealers at this point. It is not in my old catalogs or brochures, but I have several other rarer KA-BARs that aren't in catalogs either. I don't wish to discuss cost in public, but it was north of a grand by a fair amount. It was a part cash/part trade deal. The stag is so much nicer than anything they've used for the last 60-70 years.

Here's another one I recently acquired and although I already had one this one is in mint condition. It has a split tang construction like a Western but it predates the Western patent. It has a hollow handle for matches or whatever but the compartment is not waterproof. It also does not appear in any of the extensive old literature I have. I have only ever seen three or four of these. AAAARRRGH, can't seem to get pics up, will try later. Finally got the pics up.
This one is not in catalogs either. Sort of like a KA-BAR "puuko" knife. This example is only etched "VIKING" a brand of Eric Wedemeyer in the early 1930s whose brand shows on several different KA-BAR models. I have a couple others, one leather like this one and the other with a celluloid handle, both marked KA-BAR on the front and Union Cut Co on the back. I realize that neither this one or the previous post one are stag KA-BARs, but Nuto requested seeing non-catalog KA-BARs I have. Hope you like them!! Sorry you didn't make the Mystic, CT show Nuto, it is the best show we have in the northeast. Hopefully you can attend next year. Mystic also has a fine aquarium, and the historic Mystic Seaport, a living exhibit of sailing ships and town, and you can drop off family at the aquarium while you do the knife show and all of you can see the seaport. The eastern ferry from long island to CT would make for a scenic and low mileage trip.View attachment 634434[/ATTACH]View attachment 634431View attachment 634432View attachment 634433 Here's another one I recently acquired and although I already had one this one is in mint condition. P.S. Nuto, another friend of mine wants to sell some of his mint antique stag KA-BAR hunters, would you be interested in any I already have? PM me if you'd like to discuss this.
