Stag Saturday - Let's See Some Traditional Stag!

Stag Saturday. 9:21 AM Atlantic Standard Time

Found this deal ($165. US) last weekend at the Easter gun show in Calgary.
A pre-1964 Puma Gamekeepers knife (#3591). Came with original wood box.
(It is also the rarer version with the leather sewing awl instead of the corkscrew.)

- wonderful..! Haven't seen one of these since the last time I owned one circa 1970. It got 'lost' in family moves :(

Mine wasn't as nice as yours, it was German (Solingen) with white antler scales, blade slightly different, sheath almost exact copy.

Thank you - a blast from the past :thumbsup:

It was a desperate search to find these two. Had to scrape the bottom of the barrel and do a blind purchase. Somehow I got lucky. These two are very well done. Pinned shields and smooth action. The Quart Shiner feels like holding an antler in your hand! The smaller one has been a daily carry for the last 6 months. Perfect in the hand.

The one flaw in this knife is a tiny crack at the center spring pin. The stag is literally 1/32” thick there. Considering there’s so many pins on the knife, I’m not going to worry about it because I like the knife too much.

Those Shiners are really something unusual. Any chance of showing the small one closed please?

Frankly, I wouldn't fret about that crack, Stag is more flexible stuff and unlike bone it won't splinter and break off.

Those are exceptional, Steve! I've got some customs with stag that thin. Even with the crack I'd bet you'll never see a problem.

Here you go Will. The smaller one has a cam tang with a nice steady firm pull. The larger has a half stop and is a bear trap. I like the strong springs though. Can’t say enough good things about the smaller one. It just fits my hand like a glove.
