Stag Saturday - Let's See Some Traditional Stag!

As of late there has been a lot of discussions about the stainless options from GEC.
This has made me carry the only GEC stainless I have, a #53 Muskrat in 440C.
At 4 1/4" it is both large and heavy in the pocket, but since I started to use the KSF pocketslip things has improved.

At first I didn't like this pocketslip at all, but it fits the #53 just perfectly.
In the frontpocket it tends to keep the knife upright and I even forgot I had it in the pocket.
A good thing IMO.

It's burnt stag and the Muskrat blades sits deep in the frame, making a slim profile.

The pileside.
For being burnt stag I think the scales came both thin and nicely figured.

It’s not Saturday anymore, but this was what I had in my pocket yesterday.

I picked these up at a gunshow a few months ago. They are from 1981 and getting the presentation case with them was terrific. I basically bought a stag collection in one fell swoop. Great stag and scrolled bolsters. Anybody else have one of these sets? Thanks.

Nice find Larry, beautiful knives. Thanks for posting it. I recently found this 5265 and got it because it was unique, had not seen any with scrolled bolsters. I've been looking for information about it, thought it might be from the mid '70s. Now I know it came from a set and probably around 1981. Do the knives in your set have the same unique shield? Anyone else have information about these?

That's really nice! I like the engraving and the stag looks primo! I'm curious what year it was made. There should be a number stamped on the lock release. If I remember correctly two of the digits indicate the year.

Hi.

It was made in 1984. I have the bill of sale - to an American serviceman - and it is dated 1984. The knife was a gift to me from a dear friend but it is not from the original owner.

Very nice stag, Mikael, the early GECs were extremely well matched. My Churchill that I've been totin' for a few days has nice slender covers as well.

Wow, Yours is partially almost translucent!
I love stag of that quality and with the thin scales as an extra bonus.
I agree with You about the older GEC's in stag, the #53 is stamped -08.
That's ten years ago and good stag was easier to get than nowadays.
I got it a couple of years ago from Greg Holmes.

Thanks @Fodderwing Unfortunately the Pancake sheath doesn't work well with the Tapadero, ya want the Horizontal sheath with the Tap. With time the pancake sheath molds to the body's curve. The tap doesn't and ends up stocking through the front down by the tip.

Picked this 11" stag fighter up from J. Marc in the Knifemakers For Sale forum, very well made version of a fighter bowie or a rifleman knife, great chunk of stag and fantastic Damascus using 2 steels, he called it the Iron Ribbon Fighter.
