An old and still useful Puma Gamekeeper's Knife, made at Solingen, back when Puma knives actually were "handarbeit." A favorite Wabi-sabi knife. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi-sabi) Missing some stag and stained green on the leather side. Sharp. No serial number, so pre-1964. Designed in the early 50's by German forester, hunter, hunting writer (and untried Nazi war criminal) Walter Frevert. It's early production, before Puma used the sterling silver hexagon inlay. I have a few, including a rarer one with an awl (a big sewing needle used to stitch up the stomach/chest cavity for transport of game after field dressing) instead of a corkscrew, but this old one is my favorite.

Outstanding quality:thumbsup::cool: I'm somewhat puzzled when you say W.Frevert was an untried Nazi war criminal, untried may suggest no case to answer? He was Chief Forrester for Göring I believe and World War I veteran. ? Not in the league of Verner von Braun for example who not only was a major contributor to NASA but an SS officer and producer of V2 rockets causing immense destruction in Europe, slave labour connexions too.

Vintage Kienel & Piel scout knife, possibly from the '30's, with full convex hot drop-forged stainless blade, nickel silver guard & crown sambar stag handle.

Nice Crown and it looks to be Sambar Stag.
What's the story about it as far as You know?

Regards
Mikael
