Can you say why it is stamped Thompson and what's the tang-stamp please, Schliepper??

It's a Taylor's Eye Witness tang stamp, presumably made for Thompson Hardware which is still operating today after 80 years here's a link if interested. It's possible it's not associated with this company, just speculation.
