Stag Saturday - Let's See Some Traditional Stag!

I agree with Harry and You did a great choice!
So did Tonystl too, nice color!

This Saturday I'll post a Dave Shirley reproduction of a fixed Scagel original.

The original is on the screen with my knife on the keyboard.
KSF had about 100 of these on their site a few years ago and I couldn't pass on that opportunity.

This top one was passed down to me and has been in the family for over 40 years . It's a Soungen Cutlery by B.Svoboda made in Germany. Couldn't think of a better place to share it then on Stag Saturday 😊

I'm pretty sure the handle is Stag if not my apologies.

Yes it's stag, Solingen makers often use very nice stag from Red Deer.
I placed bid's for one of those on Swedish Ebay. but lost when it went over $125.

For clarification about the Scagel: I don't have the original (it's from the web), but the copy is mine.

Thanks as I'm not that we'll versed on Stag or the maker . But the knife it self brings back many good memories going on family camping trips growing up .

TheFactor, I love that fixed blade. I wish I knew a fraction of the stories it could tell!
The #72 is spectacular! Prime example of stag on that one! I can't wait to see it mellow into something amazing!

Here are a couple #72s.

Wow Johnny I'd like to start out my reply with those ones of yours are jaw dropping !
It's hard to put into words but I really enjoy admiring those beauties .
Thank you for the kind words and I can say , this #72 will also stay in the family along side of the fixed blade for many years to come 😊
I'd like to share one story with you that I will never forget . When I was probably around 8 years old or so out on camping trip with my family. It was just starting to become dusk out and my older brothers told me to go get some fire wood " under close but hidden supervision" lol . There last words before sending me off into the woods with the Ole mighty bear slayer stag fixed blade was be careful there's lots of bears out here 😯
So off I go... needless to say my brothers became bears grunting and rustling bushes as I got farther away from camp and the darker it became the louder and closer the bears got lol .
Long story short don't think anyone has ever gathered firewood wood at a faster pace ever . I can still feel my heart beating out of my chest 😊
Oh yes one of many stories and I'm sure many more I don't know.

Finally it's Saturday and another exhausting week of work is over.
Time for Stag!

This is the small Huntsman by Bark River and one of only a handful in Sambar Stag.

It's an early run, marked with "prototype".
These are " built like a tank" with 0.187" spinethickness and fulltang A2 steel at HRC 60.
The geometry reminds of a convex Scandi and excel in rough materials.
It has taken everything I have used it for, without complaining.

Lots of gorgeous stag here. A few of mine. All recent without the patina of history.
