Buck_110,

Editing out those posts is "putting your money where your mouth is" to me so come and back and talk knives etc. Everybody plays nice if your willing.

And, ditto Hawkeye's comment. That's a fine deer David.

YEA what he said!
is trax up set?
any one heard from him?
i know he was disappointed with no show but ...

Those are sure some beautiful animals. I had also heard years ago that they hold their antlers longer then one season and that was why the "meat" of the horn is so thick...anyone heard that?

Well, this thread was worrisome at first, but it has resulted in some mighty fine deer photos. Thank you for the lessons and the great pictures!

I have no problem admitting I was way out of line for the hunting comment. When I'm wrong I admit it and apologize. In this case I was 100% straight up wrong! I should not have simply assumed David's hunting skills are poor based on his comment on which stag comes from where.

David: I am sorry! I do honestly sincerely mean that.

P.S: I bow hunted for three years myself. It's not easy by any means. That's TRUE hunting. I give you tons of credit for that nice velvet buck.

Outstanding!! Just based on your handle (Buck_110) we all know your a good guy :)
Hang Out here, its a good group of gentlemen that like talking Buck Knives and associated topics. So, from me Welcome back. g

some time the hardest thing i have to do is man up
for me it is hard some times to keep the first thoughts caged
i like verbal bantering ... its like wrestling on the type writer
one jest has to not use illegal moves and watch
and that emotions dont make it a fight...
here some times it is too easy to be mistaken
as a fight or poop slinging session
but some spark of diffrent thought is always a brite light..
shesham dont want to be like hotytoty wimmon debating shades of tope?

i like stag and if it looks good dont mater what dang dear it come from..
i stand up for good old TASTY americian white tail!

I doubt that you'll see old "sharp dud" coming back to apologize, I think he's the kind that just does "drive by's" and then hauls butt.:thumbdn:

then jest sitting back and watching every one get bussy..

Ok, apology accepted.I think it was genuine and gentlemenly. Now lets move on and have a good educational discussion. Thanks to all.DM

ok dave since we are being gentlemanly ....
seems to me that, rude as he is
that S___dude seemed to have generated some
lively debate asd conversation adn education ...
could it be that ... possibly ...
we need or could use some pointed comments by some one we dont like?
trax and i have lost our desire to ... shall we say debate... issues...
and gotten boooooring...
and it is a open forum ... we dont have to like or agree with him

dude if you can be a little less rude
i for one do not mind if you come back..
others?

Dave,

Did you notice that Sharp_Dude has been a member since Jan.05 and has only posted 7 times in all those years. You post 7 times a day...he's not a talkative Dude. I did go read his seven posts to see if he's a true troll. Maybe/Maybe Not. He did demonstrate a high level of knowledge about the Buck family business. At his current rate of posting, he might be back in about 8 months.

To answer CJ's question:

No, The Sambar and Red deer shed after breeding period. Tropics species tend to have a long breeding season. the Axis have no specific 'rutting' season. Sambar can recycle in the same year if young fawn is lost early. Odd Red Deer info.-

"A stag can (exceptionally) have smooth antlers, and is then known as a switch. Similarly, a stag that doesn't grow antlers is a hummel. The antlers are testosterone-driven and as the stag's testosterone levels drop in the autumn, the velvet is shed and the antlers stop growing."

I am pretty sure my velvet has fallen off.....I don't want to make a big deal of it so I wear a hat. [l(:-)

Most interesting topics have been discussed...many times...maybe that's why the people who we inherited this forum from have moved on...they had nothing left to say that they had not already said... :(

And all my testosterone has evaporated...All I have left is Hoppe's #9... ;)

...Great way to put it Trax. I agree wholeheartedly. I love just sitting back in my old age and seeing what these "new" guys are doing. Very impressive stuff. Yep...that "evaporation" .....thing is a bummer...:p
