Standard (Medium) Chopper or Lightweight: Which and Why?

To be perfectly honest, if you can swing it, getting at least one of each is a no-brainer.

I appreciate the insights, fellas.

I don't have an abundance of choppers as I typically take a smaller belt knife and an axe when I go out. But I do like them and the chopper I got from Jonny years ago has been my go-to (a Becker BK20) - I've beat the hell out of that thing (as have my daughter, and my brother, etc.)

I do not have a CPK big 'un yet and I can't justify getting both options so the experiences you guys shared affirmed the direction I was going with regards to my choice. I will be looking to get a MC. That will round out my CPK assortment rather nicely, I think.
I think I’m leaning this way also! What scales?

I have a couple MCs and a HDMC and I had a LC. For me the MC shines out of the group. The LC was lighter which was nice, but the handle was just not quite as comfy for my mitts as the MC so I passed it on to another CPKer. Because the handles are amazing like all CPKs the weight difference didn't make a bit of difference for my uses.

All the choppers are crazy good, but the MC is kinda the "Goldilocks" of the bunch to me. I'm going to have to see the new tweaks before I decide for sure, but IMO the MC is a must ... the LC is a high probabilty.

I know ... not helpful at all! 🍻

The HDMC is forward heavy, very much like that BK20 you got from me. I think you’ll like the MC, because it doesn’t feel like it’s going to slip out of your hands after prolonged use and fatigue comes into play. I could only chop for so long with that BK20, before I felt like it was going to slip out of my hands.

That is sweet, sweet music to my ears, Jonny. Thank you!
