Starter knife for a friend

+1 for the flat ground delica or endura. perhaps a Kershaw Skyline, Zing, OD-1, JYD, or JYD2. Amazon has the G10 JYD2 for $51, it's one of my favorite knives and one of the only liner locks I will use hard (the liner is very thick)

kershaw skyline in G10 is very light weight and cheap, he's more apt to use it if he has it on him.
