I did some quick math this morning for China's outbreak since they're nearing the end of their situation and I haven't seen this impact stat yet.
0.012% of the population had confirmed cases of the virus. While the overall number is large, it's pretty likely that many of us won't know anyone that catches the virus because of the short-ish duration of its stay, which looks like about 3 months of high activity using China as an example again. I'm going to start sharing it at work because there are a few people freaking out under my leadership and I'm trying to get some people back to be more reasonable. Not saying it's insignificant, but I am saying that we don't need to lose our minds completely.
Edit: Because someone made a comment about China's data be a bit rough since they didn't know what was going on for a while, thus not testing, and China can be a bit sketchy with details anyway:
Italy is at 0.041% currently, and they are by far the hardest-hit county of the western nations.
