Stay safe everyone!

Same Governor who appointed a woman who has never had a hunting or fishing license to run the Dept. of Natural Resources, the agency that controls State Parks and F&W areas.

Sounds like normal government "intelligence"

I am allowing my employees the option of work or no work, so far it's been all work.
My son was given the option of working from home or going in. He is still going to work. His job is one that he can do from home and he often does. I told him again he doesn't realize how good he has it. Wish I could stay home and get paid:cool:

Becky’s husband Jonny was told to stay home from work until at least April 15th. He is a supervisor for a company that builds those huge warehouses you see everywhere. Things are getting crazy around here.

It is fascinating watching how this plays out in different regions. My company pretty much shut our office down last week, pushing that everyone who is able will work from home. To field workers: Carry on as usual, just follow CDC recommendations. Fortunately I have a fair split between field and office work and foresee staying busy for a while. I feel for those just told to go home indefinitely. Strange days...

Here in NH, it's probably like most other areas. Schools on mandatory 2-3 week shutdown. All restaurants and bars closed to "dine-in", but can offer take out. Crazy lines at the supermarkets, and hoard-buying of TP and cleaning stuff.

At our office(electrical contractor), we're all hunkered down. Building locked down, no vendors or personal visitors, and we are limiting any and all meetings. We are setting up for remote work from home if things get worse, but some of our jobs are not "work-from-home" type jobs. The field guys on jobsites...those are still active for now. Some existing customers like hospitals are limiting workers, or kicking us out altogether.

Sick workers are sent home or are not going to jobsites out of caution.

While I do have concern over getting the virus, it doesn't look to be deadly for the vast percentage who get it. I am more concerned for my 80-year old mother. She is in good health for her age, but you never know, so I have not been to visit her since this all went down. My wife has been able to work from home. Our son works in the mental health field, so he has clients he deals with. I'm more worried about him, as he has no control over what these clients do, and some of them aren't the most hygienic or live the healthiest lifestyle.

Like others here, I more worried about the long term social and economic ripple effect to our area and the country as a whole. The economy tends to drive everything else, and when that breaks down, it has a huge effect on personal and professional life.

Everyone stay safe!

My wife had a few errands to run yesterday afternoon. While out she decided to stop at Food Lion to pick up something for dinner rather than thaw something from home(small town with two grocery options and the other is Walmart).
She was shocked when she got to the meat dept. There were no packages of anything fresh.

We have a local chain of stores here, Berkots, that always has a good supply of meat. Now most of the stores have special hours for seniors to shop, I qualify for that.

The only thing we couldn’t find yesterday was bread. I got a call from Becky this morning that Jonny was bringing some over. I told her to just put it on the steps, I would bring it in after he left, I won’t be responsible for any germs to be passed on to Hanna. I’ve got some good kids!
The other thing was small disposable latex gloves for Connie, all the ones they have at work are too big. Finally found a box at the fifth Walgreens we stopped at. She needs them when she gets called to work the register.

I'm home with a fever today :(. Doubt it's "plague" related, but it does seem like I've been sick more often this winter than in any year prior that I can remember. Between the germ factory baby and my wife working with kids all day.

If you need more eventually, I can probably send some gloves your way. I was shipped the wrong size case of gloves at one point so I have some smalls my wife uses around the house. She has her own at her work as do I.

I don't think it matters anymore. My "adult job" was being a credit manager, essentially a high dollar bill collector. Having said that, I could easily run a nunnery. Even the dedicated religious workers need funds to complete their jobs. And I'll even bet I could get to the end of the billing month and have cash left over.

Look at it this way, a Marine needs a Ka-Bar, and back in the day, some kid like me shoved the blade blank into the punch press. We have devolved into specialists.

Now my other son in law in Indiana is laid off work too. He hauls waste oil in a semi tanker, and with oil change places and car dealers closing they don’t need him now.

I don’t know, John; if you’ve got a zombie apocalypse design up your sleeve, there might be a market for it right now...

Like the modern bowie?

Freedom is obviously not free - and liberty is not necessarily our gift from government either, as current times attest.

Research Milton Friedman - and start movements to venture back to days of less regulation and government only for what government is for. Oh, and go after the Chinese for assaulting the world by covering this virus up, which prevented containment.

Where is that XD/XT?

Illinois is shutting down effective tomorrow evening for all non essential business. I’m hoping the post office remains open.

Fortunately, my day job is considered an essential business (food manufacturing). I would think USPS and shipping would be considered essential as many people are being encouraged to order stuff online to avoid meeting people in stores.

They haven't shut down "outside" yet, but I bet they're sure trying to figure out how over here in Michigan.

I called the post office, the postmaster had no idea what I was talking about. I guess I’ll find out Monday.

Effective today at 11:59 pm Virginia is doing the same thing. It was announced yesterday along with the fact that schools would not reopen this spring.
On a personal level there are few changes for us so far other than empty shelves at the stores.
