Stealth Run #013 - Carbon Fiber 110 Auto Elite MagnaCut Drop Point

In my opinion for 300+ dollars that should be standard procedure at the factory. Not one knife should leave the factory With any malfunctions. And please don’t think I’m bashing Buck, just voicing my opinion.
I largely agree, the fix is easy and cheap. Buck's customer service is great sounds like they handled it.

The recent Auto Elite I got was so sluggish it wouldn't lock open when fired. After flushing and oiling it fires hard and has a rock solid lockup. Took 5min and a few cents of mineral oil to fix. Not a huge deal in my opinion, Case, GEC, Buck, all end up getting a lot of gunk out of them when new. Perfect, no, but it's manageable. Even if you like the action clean them out.

Which is interesting because other online retailers will ship auto knives to CA. Buck just probably doesn’t want to deal with Californias BS which is understandable.
Looking at a few of the California laws made my head hurt. I can’t tell if a folding 110 that locks open is legal or not to carry in my pocket.

Easy one. There are literally no limits or laws restricting folding knives in California.

Specialty things like autos, plus city and county is where it gets tricky.

Quick update: Buck sent me the new knife and I sent back the broken one. For the record the original knife fired hard and fast when it worked, it was the button that would not work. In any case the new knife fires hard and fast. Harder than my Kershaw Launch. Buck customer service was easy to work with and sent me the knife quickly.

I need to call Buck about mine on Monday. It wont fire open at all now. When I push the button, it doesn't deploy, I have to pull the blade open. Feels totally gummed up.

Can you spray the internals with a cleaner to flush it out? Maybe a lubricant also? Maybe some CLP like I use on a few of my firearms?

I think all Buck 110 and 112's are notorious for having gunk / polishing residues in them when new. It affects the function especially on the automatic knives.
They need to be cleaned well to perform well.
My smoothest operating knives are the ones that get used. They really don't start out that way.

I'm in love with this blade, my EDC now, sorry about pic, bad light and focus, but it makes a kinda glowy on the blade that I thought was kinda cool.

EDIT: Cleaned up the image a little in GIMP.

Update, 1 month later: I'm still carrying this blade every day, it's just too perfect, razor sharp and beautiful. Everyone i've shown it to wants one, I had a guy offer me $600 for it and I said hell no. Congrats to all who scored one, I should have bought like 3 at least. Srsly, this is an heirloom Buck blade. Call me a fanboy if you want, but I purchased my first 110 some 45 years ago,and of all i've owned, this is my favorite.
