Stealth Run #2 Mango Bird is here!

HH, I'll be passing on this one. I use the standard natural green G10 version as a money clip, and I have the black G10 version as a back up. Glad you like it and were able to get one!

No, I have a regular Budgie.
I get that. I don't know when they dropped but there are 794 available. So maybe they won't sell that fast? They cost quite a bit more than the regular Budgie. I think I let FOMO guide me too much.

p.s.- i also have the black G10 one.

One unique characteristic of Mango Bird, besides the fancy CeraKoting, is the aluminum scale. Run of the mill Budgies have a G-10 scale. The BOTM from May of 2022 had a white Cerakote aluminium scale.

That one was in D2 steel whereas this one is S35VN. It was offered at $125, which of course is a better price. Did you get that BOTM? I didn't.

You know, they always say this steel is more expensive than that. Like S35VN is more expensive than D2. But there is so little steel in most folders, does it really make that much difference? I know the manufacturers would like you to think so. But, this Budgie for example, what would be the actual material cost of S35VN vs D2 vs 420HC? I also know there is added costs due to premium steels requiring more effort down the manufacturing line but I am just curious about the steel. I bet the actual material cost difference isn't that much. Maybe it is the manufacturing that drives the cost more. Or maybe it is just a marketing gimmick. Most likely it is all the above.

I also give Buck credit for getting creative once in a while. Regardless of whether this is a hit or not, they went out of their comfort zone on this one. Not everything can be a 112. Or can it?

On the other hand, if they would have made something more people are requesting, they might have sold out already. They only sold 4 in the last hour. 790 remain.

I have trouble operating the Budgie with one hand and I'm thinking that I just need to get over trying and just open and close it two handed. I've never been one for flashy knives and bright colors are, in my eye, flashy.

I got one in part to encourage Buck to continue these special runs. Albeit, it is a very small part. But I can't help but wonder if people don't respond positively to these will they just stop them or make them less frequent? Since they effectively stopped retailers from having SFO exclusives, this is all we got. I think these make collecting a lot more interesting. The last few special releases by Buck have had hefty price tags, though. I think this one would be more appealing at $124.99. But Buck knows their costs more than me and they're not in business soley to make inexpensive, cool artifacts for my collection.

Sorry to flood this thread with comments (not that sorry). I just got an email about the Stealth Run #2. This is 2 hours after I noticed it on the Buck site. Had this been a hot item, I may have missed out. I hope they improve on that. I was hovering around their site this morning thinking, from the clues they left, that a release was going to be today.
